    JD starter wrench

For my 4020, I bought a 9/16 socket made with a short u-joint, 3/8 drive. Ground down the socket to about 1/4 deep. Works well for me.

    A not quite right

On mine the length of the throttle rod to the governor was critical. It's adjustable. I think the operators manual has instructions.

    water injection

I understand that water injection is used mainly on high-performance spark engines that operate under high compression. The water serves to cool the mixture and reduce detonation. I doubt it would be useful on early JDs like your A since they used moderate compression.

    Starter bolt positions

For a 4020, I bought a shallow 9/16 socket mounted short to a 3/8 u-joint. I ground the open end of the socked so that it just fits over the bolt head. Used with 3/8 extensions and rachet, it works nicely.

Starter for John Deere 'A' - how to remove.

FIRST disconnect the leads from the battery. Keep all of your fingers.

    4020 BATTERRY JUNK

I sat my 12V "big rig" battery on the platform in front of the seat. Not as much in the way as you might think.

    4020D fuel injector

R-M Model CBC is leaking fuel thru the seam where it's mounted on the right rear of engine block. I understand there's an O-ring seal between them. Is this a primary fuel seal? Can I lift the injector pump to replace O-ring without disturbing timing or creating other problems? Thanks.

    Fuel leak at injector pump.

4020D starts and runs well but R-M CBC injector pump assembly is seeping fuel at mounting point. Does this suggest a bad O-ring or is 'root problem' further up in pump? Thanks.

    Hydraulic pump coupler late 4020

I am installing new rubber bushings in the drive coupler. Should they be installed with a lubricant? If so... Thanks.
