    450 TA

I'm sure it's been asked 100 times here, so I apologize. How do I test the TA on a 450. Forward is disengaged and pulled back is engaged? If the TA is out, will the tractor not be able to move when the TA is engaged? Thanks

    Farmall F20

Had my F20 running just last night. I took the carb off to replace the gasket between the manifold and carb. Got that buttoned back up and made a minor adjustment to the governor. Didnt mess with anything else. Now it won't start. It'll fire a couple times (enough to produce a little exhaust)...

    Farmall F20 High Idle

Started up my F20 last night, and seems like it idles really fast. Possibly an issue with the carb or governor? Any suggestions of where to look and what to do would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Farmall F20 O Rings

What is the proper way to install the o rings on an F20? I replaced the rings, but when I filled it with coolant it was leaking into the oil, so I evidentally damaged them at some point in the install process. Just wondering if anyone has any tricks to installing them and getting a good seal...

    1938 F20 Throttle

My 38 F20 has the standard 10 notch throttle on the left side of the fuel tank. How much travel should it have? Mine only moves about 7 notches, and I cannot get it to go to either the first or last notch. Thanks for the help.

    F20 Behlen Road Gear

Trying to mount up my Behlen road gear onto my F20, however the road gear doesn't clear the drain plug on the front of the transmission right next to the drive shaft. Anyone know how it is supposed to be properly mounted to clear this plug? Thanks.

    Cleaning Out Block

Need some advice on how to clean out the engine block on my F20. I have the engine completely apart, and I have the sleeves out. There was a significant amount of rust around the sleeves that I loosened and cleaned out. Some of the rust and scale fell down below into the lower portion of...

    Surface Prep Question

I'm currently working on a 1938 F20. I'm using wire wheels on an angle grinder to prep the tractor for paint. Just wondering if anyone has any tips for getting in some of those small nooks and crannies. The main areas I can see being problematic are between the block and clutch, as well as the...

    450 Struggles Continue

Well, the 450 continues to experience issues. As you guys suggested, I took the carb off, and took it apart. Bought a carb repair kit and installed that. Made sure the float was moving freely, it seemed fine and there was no fuel in the float. I also disconnected the air cleaner from the...

    450 Again.......

Opened up the distributor, changed and set the points, and changed the condenser. Put the distributor back together, then hooked up a new 12 volt coil with resistor. The problem continues to persist. At this point, I think the problem is with the fuel system. When it began to chug, I shut off...

    450 Problems Continue.....

I looked in the fuel tank, and could not locate any floaters. Added some fuel, and replaced the new coil with the old one. Ran it down the road last night....ran fine. Went to plow this morning, and it ran fine for the first 5 minutes, then started to chug and spew black smoke (it's a gas). So I...

    450 Update

Well, I checked a few of the things mentioned on another post: looked at the air cleaner, plugs, distributor, and changed the plug wires. Still heard the noise (it kinda sounded like a JD 2 cylinder, it was just running rough). Hooked up to spread some fertilizer, and it worked fine the first...

Farmall 450 Gas Seems To be Missing

I took the 450 out last night to disk some ground that I had plowed the previous evening. Before I plowed, I replaced the ignition coil. What was on it was similar to the first picture, and I replaced it with one similar to the second (a 12 volt coil I got from the Case IH dealer)...

    Farmall 450 Oil Leak. Help!!!

So I changed the oil in the 450 today, changed the filter, and changed the oil with Shell Rotella 15W40, as recommended by the helpful fellows on this site. I started plowing, and made quite a few rounds, and it was working quite well. Then I looked down, and saw a liquid on the right side frame...

    Planter

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on a 3 point 2 row planter either runners. Looking at the planter in the picture to plant a small 2.5 acre field, and a food plot. How well do they work, and any other opinions? Thanks a bunch

    IH Little Genius Tail Wheel

How does the tail wheel on a Little Genius plow work. On mine, it seems as though the direction is determined by whether or not the wheels are raised or lowered. I figured it would just pivot freely and move on its own. What is the correct way for it to function?

    Straight Pipe Question

Been contemplating adding a straight pipe to my 450, as when it starts up, black liquid comes out of the muffler. I thought a curved pipe would help direct it away from the tractor. Is there anything I should be concerned with doing this. As always, thanks.

    Farmall 450 Wiring

Does this wire need to be connected somewhere. I came across it today when putting on the new alternator, and was wondering if it is supposed to be connected somewhere. Also, do I need to do anything with the silver bolt on the bottom left. Thanks
