Worried about sounds behind oil pan

Took the 8N (it's a 64 2000, but really just the phase out of the 8N, not the real 2000) out this morning and we were dragging a leaf rake, not much work at all, and was hearing an intermittent scraping sound coming from bottom of tractor. Somewhere between me and the oil pan. It would come and...

Somewhere between me and the oil pan. It would come and go randomly, that is not due to a load, but only happened when tractor was...

My tractor starts/runs fine. Today it started every minute or so it will emit a puff of white smoke out of the exhaust and a light single pop. Good temp, oil pressure, otherwise no smoke out of the exhaust. What do you guys think?

    Hydraulic Cylinder Rod Straightening

A bit off topic, I managed to bend two hydraulic cylinder rods and the manufacturer wants an 2 arms for them. A fella on the interweb says he can straighten them to the 7 thou tolerence, and I found a shop that says he can do it. Anybody had any success with doing that?

Install new bumper, can't get the old bolts out

Realized a prior owner just cut the bolts off flush front and back and they will not drive out with a punch and sledge. I don't want to mess with trying to drill them out, so plan is to heat up the axle around the bolt with a torch to break the rust to see if I can free them up. I also loosened...

Changing PTO Seal on 64 2000 4 Cyl

Before I start taking stuff apart, I'm assuming all I need is a new seal and the gasket (4 bolts) on the PTO cover. Seems pretty simple. Any surprises I should know about?

OT 64 Ford 2000 4 Cyl Gas PTO Not working properly

Fellas I hooked up my finish mower yesterday for the first time on this tractor and found that the PTO doesn't seem to work properly. I cannot engage the PTO by pushing in the trans clutch. I have to kill the tractor, engage PTO and start the tractor. Also when I engage the trans clutch, the...

    64 Ford 2000 4 Cylinder Gas

Hooked up my finish mower today to my new to me 2000 and noticed that I cannot engage the PTO by pushing in the clutch. I have to turn the tractor off, engage the PTO, then start the tractor and everthing work fine. However when I engage the clutch to shift into a different gear or stop the...

New Old Tractor Fleet - Quite a learning Experience

My dad, also an old gearhead, recently gave me a 45 2N and a 63 2000 (Really an NAA). Internally resisted N coils - Myth or reality ?

Just received my new coils after a failure of mine with a crack top to bottom on my 45 2N. Naturally was concerned excessive heat caused the failure. Bought a $30 internally resisted coil from Styner and and $15 coil from YT. I only have a p/n 12250 resistor mounted near the dash between the...

Slight surging in my 45 2N

Just replaced coil/points/condenser/dist cap took the dist off and apart and cleaned magnets. Put it all back together and went for a drive. It starts right up, idles smooth but running around on the road in 3rd gear at max rpm it seems to have a slight surge. Doesn't appear to be the engine...

LIft Position Lever Lowers Itself on 64 Prior 2000

Plowed the arena yesterday with my new Prior 2000. Guessing it was the first time she was put to work in a long time. Noticed that the lift position level would lower itself when the plow would take a deeper bite. I had the control knob in the position control vs. draft control location. The...

Has anyone seen a detaileddescription of how a MS Carb works

Attempting to adjust the carb on my new prior 2000, found the initial settings in the shop manual as to initial settings and we will get it figured out as we did on my 2N. Got the tank and carb all cleaned out today, and will eventually put a carb kit in it. As I was adjusting the carb today...
