New 40T Champion log splitter hyd fluid

The owners manual says 32, but no one near me stocks it. After reading through some previous posts 20 should work, should I be concerned about voiding the warranty?

For all of you folks that shut off the fuel and run it til it dies....

My 2N runs forever after shutting the fuel off. It does sputter/die if I drive it with the fuel turned off after 5-10 minutes. It will idle until I turn off the key with the fuel turned off. Do these tractors really get that kind of "mileage"? Yes, I am turning the new shut off valve clockwise...

May buy a gray market 2wd compact tractor. It is diesel, runs and has a few hyd leaks. Any recommendations on this purchase, the price seems right. I do not have a model number handy.

original uses for the N series tractors?

I am new to the N game, bought one from a friend in need of cash. I never intended in owning one. I am curious as to what there general purpose was, as my 2N seems to have many limitations built-in. Mine runs very well and I am very pleased with it after some lost sleep. lol

I have a craftsman DLS 3500, specs on front tires................

The front tires on it now are 15x5x6, the specs show they should be 15x6x6. The problem is the "6" tires are taller, and there does not seem to be any extra room for larger tires. I bought this used and have no idea if the previous owner put smaller tires from a different lawnmower on it...

Broken tie rod to diff lock..............

The small rod on the tie rod assy is broken, Getting the old pieces off is a nightmare so far. My next step is removing the arm attached to the diff shaft as the tie rod has become one with it. The (arm) lever seems to be attached to the diff shaft with an unthreaded pin that is driven down into...

I need some clarification please. Differential and Hyd lift arms.

    1. As I understand it, the hydraulic lift will not stay in position, and goes all the way up, or all of the way down. This is how mine acts at any rate. Do I need chains to hold the lift arms up to use a brush hog with only a back pivot wheel? Is this what is classified as a "non-live" PTO, and...

    Air breather replacement inquiry

I am curious as to whether or not the "filter media" will decay and get sucked into the engine. The filters on my 2N and 3000 diesel have been quite neglected over the years. The one on the 2N got pretty clean after soaking in diesel fuel, the 3000 was bone dry and I am concerned that the filter...

    Replaced the fuel tank today,

What a bear. Found lots of bare wire and loads of splices. Going to get a wiring harness for it. The 12v single wire alt conv. has been done. Will it use a a different complete harness? I am also toying with wiring the 12v alt properly. BTW the tank took care of all of the fuel issues, it runs...

To in, or not to in, this is the question. Fuel tank recommendations.

Slowly getting this old tractor back in service. The tank is full of rust. I believe it would be much easier just to replace the tank. I have found many tanks, which aftermarket tanks fit best? Thank you, F O T

Finally getting my 2N to limp around.

Took off the fuel bowl, took off the shut off valve cleaned them up, flushed the tank with fresh fuel. Put a tiny inline fuel filter above the carb. The tractor starts right up and seems to run well. Took it for a spin, clutch still sticking gotta be careful. lol The tractor did fine until I...

Did the "mechanic" lie about my clutch too? Very dangerous condition

The clutch sticks, and the tractor will not stop when the clutch is pushed in for what seems to be an eternity. I almost ran into a tree. It is also hard ro get into gear 1/2 the time. The mechanic said the disc was sticking to the flywheel due to lack of use. He suggested I put a spacer between...

Just got my 2N back from the "mechanic" ug

He did not do 1/2 the stuff we talked about, the topper is he left the intake boot loose from the carb and said it was to keep the gas from draining into the crankcase. I knew this was BS, so after he left my place delivering the tractor, I installed the boot correctly and now the tractor runs...

Mechanic put a one wire alternator on my '65 3000.............

Am I going to have an issue with a dead battery because of the drain from the alt.? My tachometer also no longer works. Is it normal for the conversion to disable the tach.? I've also read that the rpm's need to be pretty high to "excite" the alt. Any advise? Thank you F O T

'65 3000 Ford diesel universal temp sender and gauge

Any recommendations? It appears that Ford hung a temperature sender on a wire and built the tractor around it. lol I have put many an aftermarket temp sender and gauge on old hot rods. Can I do the same on my old Ford tractor? Thank you, FOT

I may have done a booboo............. PTO shaft

1965 Ford 3000 8 speed. I partially pulled the PTO shaft out before remembering to lock the PTO drive. I pushed it back in and locked the PTO drive. Can I tell by looking in the hole and see if the ring fell? All I can see in there is the splines where the shaft goes. Thank you, F.O.T...

Anyone have experience using aftermarket PTO shafts?

Ford 3000, The splines on my shaft are about 1/2 worn off where the Implement attaches. I need a new shaft. The wear has made the splines narrower, the length is still good. 29.5" long with 6/10 splines. I'd settle for a good used assy if there is one available.

    Ford 2600 or 3000?

Considering trading my '65 3000 for a 2600 with P/S. Are there any downfalls going to a newer 2600? It's gonna cost me, as it is not an even trade. The cash price for the 2600 is going to be ~$4600.00. An offer for my 3000 has nor been made, as the seller has not seen it yet. Thank you, FOT
