12v conversion

If there ever was a justification for the conversion of the 6v to 12 I guess this was it

I was at my house building a lawn mower ramp out of some leftover railroad ties from a fencing project and it was a beautiful day I was listening to the radio apparently too long and the pickup wouldn’t start. Well the 2555 was the only thing here other than the A and that’s a pain in the buns to hook to a positive post there’s only about one more time I can open that battery box up top before I have to buy pieces for it. jump pack was at the farm.

I suppose 6v die hards are smart enough not to leave the radio on.

Usually it’s the other way around pickup to start old tractor but I will say with that functioning ammeter it is probably the best vehicle to use since you can tell for sure when you are done the old pickup voltmeter that dial has been moved when the dash was apart it says 15v when it’s really 14 so it’s always a guess when I hook it to something if it’s done. No guessing if it’s hooked up and charging with this setup it might become a more frequent plan. Went right to 30 amps just like a decent old battery charger and dropped went to the center when done

Yup.
What else you got that is 12 volts - car, motorcycle, 4 wheeler, motorhome or camper, lawn tractor, outboard motor, side by side, snowmobile, modern tractor, trailer winch, skidsteer?
A 12 battery will run them all so why have an oddball 6v battery?

That A was 12 volt when new.
You are correct it was 2 6v in series I had forgotten I just did an alternator and switched to a single battery. And a ei kit

One of them I switched 15 years ago now it must have been the super c since the b doesn’t need a battery

Oh and that dang ford it had the 8v nonsense on it when we got it
