1948 AC B wiring

is a 1948 Allis Chalmers B positive ground or negative ground? I am finishing a restoration started by my grandpa and have no clue if its a negative or positive. Thanks for your time.

It came new + ground but if it has been converted to 12 volts its most likely - ground

To be safe I would Polarize the Genny BEFORE you start her up.

Yep till the late 50s, early 60s almost all tractors where + ground if they where 6 volts.

1947 b only pops and some smoke, but will not start. the F mark and #1 are right. need all the help i can get. thanks,tom

Mag or distributor?? Hard to help with out more info. If its a mag drop me an e-mail and I'll send you the manual for that mag.

IT IS A DISTRIBUTOR, ALSO IT IS A C NOT A B. IT IS STILL 6 VOLT,BUT IT HAS POS. GROUND. I DONT THINK THAT IS RIGHT. THANK'S. TOM

+ ground is as it should be and it was that way when new. Now as far as spark you could have a simple bad switch, bad wires, bad coil, dirty points, cracked cap bad rotor or the insulator going in the side of the distributor could be bad
