1949 ca

I have a chance buy this allis ca 1949. Motor is free , but missing the hood. I have never seen this mower , which he says is a finish mower. A good deal for 600 or not?

Got to agree, I own 2 Ca's and that is not a CA, I would think its a WC but won't bet the farm.

Several problems. Although someone has put CA decals on this tractor; there is no such thing as a 1949 CA. They were first built in late 1950. This tractor is NOT a CA! It's a RC so it's likely a 1939 not 1949 as RCs were only built in 1939,1940,& 1941. You don't find a RC every day and $600 is a decent price for one like this. It has the full electrical system including lights, power lift, and a nice aftermarket seat. A common B hood from a tractor w/o lights is a suitable replacement for your missing hood. I can't see the front wheels (they should be 15 inchers) but the back ones are not the correct 28" ones. They are 24" pressed steel from a late unstyled or early styled WC. Absolutely no doubt, it is an RC. Anyone who says different, doesn"t really know AC. 5500 built, 1939-1941. Not a big seller...under-powered, poor sales, production stopped with advent of WWII- was not brought back. WC frame, with a B/C engine- note the extra setback in the front.....WC engine/rad was more forward. Plus the engine is definitely not a WC. Check the valve cover and air cleaner- not WC. Battery box, has starter? BONUS! Also has the mechanical cultivator/lister lift. Forget the mower- engine loose, $600 is more than a steal.

cant see much of the mower, but it appears the saft runs perpendicular to the PTO and right thru the center of the mower.. maybe a reel type ?

Battery box is just like the WC I have and the head lights mount the same. Hard to tell from that picture is that is a B/C engine or a WC/WD engine. Now if he had a picture of the other side I might agree with you but as is hard to say. Yep cultivator lift a plus but then I have one just sitting on my parts machine

That is NOT a mower, it is a corn stalk shredder. However a good one does a decent job of mowing.

Look close at the manifold. That is the key to the model in those pictures. Also if a can was not removed from that manifold for the picture you can only guess at the condition of the engine. My bet would be you have a good block and a few reusable engine parts. Not that that is a bad deal. Easy worth more than 600 bucks as is for an (RC).

Jim is right, no doubt it is an RC. One of the first things to look at is the distance from the front of the tractor to the grill. RC tractors have shorter engines (B/C engines) than a WC, therefore that distance is longer. Headlights and battery boxes are in the same locations on either tractor, so I can see where you thought it could be a WC. Engine and rear end gearing is what basically sets the two tractors apart.

Where will i find the the serial number. Going to look at it. Now price is down to 400.

$400 for it all that is less then scrap is or very close. I am not 100% sure but if I remember right the serial number is the same place as the WC and WD which is below the left hand brake cover on a flat spot and is at times hard to read. Stand behind it and you should be able to see that area

Looking at it tonight. Any thing special i nees to look at luke tore size,serial etc?

They had 28 in. tires like the styled wc. The serial number is right in the center of the punkin on the rear end. Should start off with RC and then the number. If it's loose and really an RC you can't go wrong at $400.00.

Ok bad news. Seams stuck. The fenders are not rusted. the Serial on the back reads "tractor" then RC 2005. The seats folds down. Rims look in good shape. Manifold is toast. The support on the battery box is there. Looks like the mag is there, along with the lights are still good.

If the muffler is gone as it seems to be, it probably is stuck. I bought one a few years ago that the old man had died and his family just let it sit in the back yard. Kids played on it, lost the cap for gas tank, muffler rotted off and it filled with water, locked up tight. I bought it for the equipment. Tractor with one nearly new tire, double turn plow, snap hitch cultivator and wood saw for $300.00.

That makes it a 39. Even though it's stuck, $400.00 isn't bad. You just don't find an RC every day.

looks like a Delco distributor and coil, not a mag.

Looks like it might have the "covered" steering wheel. The different steering wheel, the rear wheel centers(if proper RC wheels) and the differential as said are worth more than the asking price. That said, I wouldn't part it out if I got my hands on it.

Dont plan on parting it out. Wife does not want a junk yard waiting on selling parts. I want to try and free it up and work on it. But I am all red and not sure how this will fit in. lol. I plan on picking it up next week.
