Edit I was attempting to reply to an old thread 2019 GMC Dur-

No hate speech or bigotry? Wouldn't think that would be an issue on a yesterdays tractor forum. Almost beckons more of speech control. Maybe its just something site ownership does on all the forums they own or something to this affect.

Anyway Interesting forum just stumbled across it searching for info on the small inline 6 diesel that GM is supposed to be offering in their 2019 1/2 ton trucks. Always had an appreciation for older tractors as well. I helped farm in the late 70s early 80s and had a neighbor who restored many old Cockshuts & two or three of their variants.

Found the comments interesting of Ram's VM Motori built 3.0 diesel. They do have a higher percentage of failures, main bearings than is acceptable. Good thing it has a 100,000 mile warranty. Still not sure why. Lack of lubrication due to dillusion from poor regen management? The ones that were left to idle for hours and not worked regularly had lots of emissions system problems and consequently failures. The ones that are actually worked seem to hold up well.

The cam sprocket issue made famous by the tinkerer and You tuber now deceased Mopar Sean never panned out except to promote a lot of fear. Don't think you can find 3 cases in the first 3 year 104,000 units sold.

My son worked for ART Heavy Haul an over size load company that had 12 of its own Pilot & service trucks that were EDs. Most had high idle hours to run the AC or heater as they carried 100 gallon diesel tanks for the big trucks so they had access to free to the driver fuel. Beat hard and poorly maintained many ended up with emissions problems. The management of this company is why its no longer around. The truck my son drove was deleted fairly early and never had any issues with over 7,000 hours run time and over 200,000 miles before he left the company.

Buddy that I drove big truck with retired and retired into transporting Airstreams with his wife. He had 212,00 on his before his health retired him from driving. No issues all of them towing. I also bought one and transport Airstreams travel trailers and boats from the manufacturers to dealerships. Didn't buy it for that purpose but sorta fell into it. 433,000 miles on mine. I did have a head gasket fail at 371,000. But over all I've had very good luck with it considering its not what I would call a commercial grade engine.

Green Diesel tune helps as it turns off EGR and manages regens and a lot more much better. The ones I see worked or long commuted or tuned hold up the ones that run parts 2 miles away and never get a chance to warm up and finish a regen end up on the hook. Just my observations. Cheers fellas.
