3020 oil filter cover stud

While changing oil I snapped one of the studs on the oil filter cover. Still about 1 inch sticking out, are thise just screwed in? Can I weld a nut to it and just back it out to replace???

Yes, they are studs, all 4 the same, 3/8" X 1-7/8".

You should be able to grab what's left with a stud remover or a Vice Grips and remove it, if you weld on it you may damage the gasket behind it, which should probably be replaced anyway, along with the O-ring in the oil pump that the filter housing slides over.

Ok, wasn't sure because 2 have nuts under the cover as well.
