400 case injection pump timing

The pump had a broken plunger I had it repaired, but when I installed the pump timed at 26 degrees BTDC as my serial number calls for, looking through the time hole on top of the pump housing the pointer and hub is lined up. The red tooth however is located one tooth before the pointer. I questioned the diesel pump repair shop on this and they said this was correct according to their manual. This tractor never ran out of power in 3rd or 4th gear at tractor pulls before the pump was repaired. Now it will run out of power in 3rd gear. Can this one tooth make a difference. It start OK with some white smoke for a minute or two.

Gear tooth is aligned at base circle of camlobe, port closing is about 1/3 plunger upstroke travel when hub and pointer are aligned and tooth will be about 1 tooth over, is correct. Suspect power loss is fuel stop plate reset to a stock fuel setting, may have been set higher before plunger was broken.

The red tooth is one tooth to the left of the pointer, does that sound correct? I can't tell you how the pump was set before the plunger broke, but the diesel tech. said he had set the pump with as high an output as he could.

Fuel stop plate is under top rear 4 bolt cover, will have 2 bolts holding stop plate that will have slotted holes for adjustment. Best to check on PTO dyno first. If you like, call 574 893 4172 after 7 PM best time, be glad to help.
