4010 Operator Platform

Looking for ideas....

In the final hours (literally) of wrapping up a 6 year restoration (top to bottom and front to back) of a 1961 4010D. You name it...it is new!

Tractor has a very nice coating of PPG Concept JD Green including the operators platform. Looks good but a) I"m concerned that the platform will be slick when wet and b) eventually and probably quickly it"ll get scratch and begin to look horrible.

So I purchased some wide 4 inch strips of anti-skid tape thinking that it would help to provide safety when wet and also would help to protect the platform paint since boots will typically be on the anti-skid tape.

But before I go about cutting and attaching this stuff, I wanted to know if anyone else has done something to the platforms. I was hoping that someone would make an aftermarket rubber mat for it....but I haven"t found any.

So if you have thoughts, love to hear them. She isn"t a show tractor....she"ll be used for haying operations (e.g. baling, etc) but I do want to keep her looking as good as possible - - - too much $$$, blood, sweat and tears went into this project!

Thank you.

I have seen ready made mats on these platforms on tractors comming throught the shop, one of them had a Deere on it,, but don't know where they came from,,When I fixed my 60 up nice I found a mat material that looked like silver deck plate and cut a piece of that out for it,,it looks good and every now and then I clean out under it, and I don't know where that piece came from,,just stuff that showed up I guess...

JD sells platform mats, they are spendy but look nice. Be sure not to leave the mat on when in storage though as it will not let the platform dry out and will rust quickly.

what about having linex sprayed on it not sure what it would look like but it wouldnt scratch and it would not be slick

You could cut an indoor/outdoor carpet remenant to fit it. Would also keep your feet a bit cooler on a hot day.

I've seen ribbed rubber mats on open tractors of the new generation era at shows. There are no such mats in my early 4020 parts book.

Shoup www dot shoupparts dot com has a floor mat. 54 x 50" its way too big and way to expensive.

You can buy clear anti-slip spray that has sand like particles in it. Works great on my truck tailgate and you can't even see it unless you look close.
