4320 vibration

I've got a '71 4320 that has a vibration when running. I replaced the flywheel about 100 hours ago. at at that time i didn't notice any vibration. but in the last 40 hours or so i have noticed a vibration that was only present at low rpm's. but in the last few days it viberates all the time and i have developed a oil leak form the clutch inspection cover. the leak is trans fluid and not motor oil. My hunch is that i didn't get the trans input shaft into the piolt bearing/bushing when i reassembled the tractor and it has now took out whatever bearing and seal on the trans input shaft. hopfully it has not wrecked the input shaft yet. i have a shop manual and can see all the shafts and seals that may be affected. I have had this happen before on a 60's hotrod. Any one out there that could tell me if i'm bark'n up the right tree? maybe another idea that i'm not see'n. thanks for any ideas. TIM

Has the dampener(AR57241) on front of crankshaft been replaced? I know JD recommends replacing at 4500 hrs on a 55 series

Could you be mistakeing a viberation, for an engine 'miss'? Just a loose thought..

Did you get your flywheel torqued down correctly?? just a thought-
Also do you use the pto? The pto clutch engagement dogs like to leak on those- the transimssion oil gets on the clutch and created a vibration from slipping (at least thats what my 4620 was doing) I've replaced them in my 4320 and twice on my 4620- IF this is the leak buy all new seals and the engagement dogs- I learned the hard way on the 4620 by just replacing the seals, which was stupid- but the deere dealer did it the first time- during the season and I just didn't have time to do it myself!!! When I did it myself I did it right and have had NO trouble since.

I think you hve a bearing going bad on the input shaft to your transmission. The shaking bearing is tearing out a seal. You might try to isolate the vibration to the engine or transmission.

does the vibration go away when you push the clutch down? if so, yes it is in the tranny, if not you have engine problems, like tim said, maybe a miss. i dont know for sure if it is or not, but if the dampner is fluid filled like the newer series, those can leak and even break the crank if ignored.

thanks for all the info on my vibration problem. i will look at my dampener for problems. i have to split the tractor to replace the seals and any bearings on the input shaft anyway. I'll look at the flywheel bolts and my piolit bearing at that time. i did replace all the pto clutch fingers the last time i had it apart. Did't know at that time how easy it was to check the input shaft seals. probably would have replaced them then. will be a week or so befor i get it opened up. thank again, tim.
