484 stuck in reverse

Somehow I managed to get it stuck in reverse, I can select a speed ok but high/low/reverse lever is stuck in reverse, can get to neutral even.
I've had issues before (lazy shifting) but was always able to get it going with a gentle (sometimes more persuasion is required) with a hammer or Wrench on the leaver under the center cover, clutch side.
I know the ball joints on all of the linkages are worn-out, couple will actually pop off, going to order all new ones tomorrow (Thursday).
The tractor is far from a princess maybe not even a frog, more toad in my books but it runs pretty good, it has newer tires and a loader which is all I need for what I do with it.
I don't farm just use to haul saw logs out of the bush and liad them on my saw mill.
Anyone have any ideas ?

The Rev/Lo/Hi lever controls rods on the side of the Range transmission down under the left foot rest.
DO NOT FORCE the Rev/Lo/Hi Lever or you could shear off #1 or #2 in the bottom photo.
The usual problem is in the Shift lever mechanism, the parts on the shaft on the upper photo and some gentle prying with a long screw driver will usually correct the problem. To determine if the problem is really in the Range transmission disconnect the #19s in top photo from #1 and #2 on bottom photo.

I'm going to order new ball joints/swivel ends/whatever they are called and replaced them all
Tractor is 100 miles away so it's difficult to "try things".
To top it off when it got stuck is was pouring rain and I was already soaked, so it stuck in reverse just topped it off
Did make it interesting to get it back into the lean too.

The control rod that runs on top of the transmission are for the Speed transmission for gears 1-4, if you have the old style "Z" pattern shift, the newer "H" shift pattern has two control rods on top of transmission, gears 1-2 and 3-4.
The Rev/Lo/Hi Lever has two control rods on the left side of the Range transmission.
