8n oil level

how much gear oil does a ford 8n hold in the transmission and does the same oil feed the rear end.

Transmission, Hydraulics and rear end. three drains, one fill point. drain back to front. Less messy that way.

Is the fill cap by the starter button on the tranny? That will also fill the rear all the way back to the pto. 5 gallons total correct? What type/weight of gear oil should I use.

Place the tractor on a level surface and remove the lower bolt (6 o'clock) in the cover on the right side of the tractor below the seat. Not the one that engages the PTO, other side. Fill the case thru the fill hole near the shifter. When some oil dribbles out of the 6 o'clock hole you have put in enough fluid. Do not over fill as it can leak thru the seals and ruin the brakes (PO did this to my first 8N). It normally takes about 4 gallons of new fluid.

yes, just the one fill point. Ford MC-134D hydraulic oil or 90w mineral oil.
