A/C 180 release/throw out bearing

Is it possible to use a pully puller to get the throw out bearing off and then tap on the new one, or should I take off the bearing hub as per the manual? Saw someone on you tube using that technique but don't want to hurt the clutch shaft. One end of the puller would be attached to the end of the clutch shaft and the other around the bearing. Thanks.

You tube is a better source than the AC manual? You should be able to pull the throwout bearing and hub/carrier off the transmission tube, tap the carrier out of the bearing, tap the new bearing on the carrier, and put it back on the transmission tube in less time than you can rig up a puller.

Proper way is to replace the clutch shaft seal and gasket AND pilot bearing while in there. Adjust clutch linkage for 4 inches of free-play.
