Allis C, forgot how nice it is to have the tractor working

About four years ago the oil pump would
loose its prime. Then I had the starter
ring gear loose some more teeth so the
starter didn't work well and I had to hand
crank it. Then the next spring I found tons
of antifreeze in the oil. Then the next
year my mom.had a stroke. So this summer I
was able to get to it.

I found it stuck. So I needed to split it,
fix the oil pump, new starter ring gear,
pull the head and free up the pistons,
grind and lap the valve seats, rebuild the
carb, install an alternator, new steering
wheel, seat, and put new freeze plugs in
the head.

I put gas in the tank, hit the starter and
it instantly fired right up. No choke
needed. After I got her hot, I retorqued
the head, adjusted the valves.

Now I go out of my way to find tasks that I
have to hit that started and hear it fire
up.

What a really nice machine. Simple, easy to
service and repair, and runs nicely. No
wonder so many C and B models were made.

I have a special fondness for the B's and C's. When I was in the second and third grade the neighbor across the road farmed his 80 acres with a B and Dad farmed his 148 acres with a C. The C was the first tractor I was able to fit ground with.

bought an naa ford. started great. left it alone for about 4 months now wont start. typical ford I guess. tractor is Stored inside.
