A family member recently bought an Allis Chalmers 2300 wheeled disk. Owner admitted that both bearings were shot in the front right gang, but said replacement was a simple matter. He neglected to mention that he ran the disk this way until he ruined the flanges on either side of the bearings. We have located a source for the bearings and flanges, but a discontinued part is also ruined - a 36.25 inch tube which is square on the outside and fits over the hexagonal shaft. Options are - 1. give up and sell disk for scrap. 2. have metal fabricator repair existing tube 3. locate tube on junked disk 4. locate an entire front right disk gang that can be fitted to this frame. Any thoughts on this matter? - such as the relative likelihood of finding an entire gang that would work rather than replacing or repairing the square tube?
