Amazon, bad changes

I guess the bottom line is, if you have facilities near at hand that have everything you need, you can turn your nose up at Amazon.

However, a couple of years ago, I needed a blanket for a queen sized bed. In my home town of 7,000 there was not one single blanket to be bought for a queen sized bed. Nowhere. And that included Walmart.

So, faced with either driving 25 miles to a larger town and running around looking for a blanket or surfing for a few minutes on Amazon and clicking on 'Buy Now', what would you do?

It takes me 30 minutes to drive into town and 30 minutes to drive back, only to find that no one has what I need.

Amazon Prime gets me what I want. You guys can cry about Amazon all you want but you won't change my mind.

You got some vested interest in Amazon that you are carrying their flag so proudly????

Hey, when a company serves me well, I will speak up for them. You got some kind of problem with that?

You don't like them so that means I should not like them either? Sorry, I'm not here to baby sit you.

I used Amazon a couple times years ago. Used eBay a couple times years ago.

Not really impressed with either. Faceless nameless slow delivery of stuff you dont know what quality you are getting or when.

Town is 7 minutes away, shopping center town is 30 minutes away. I can go buy something and have it at home in an hour and a half, after inspecting that it is what I want before paying for it.

Not have it dropped in a snowbank 5-7 days later, or the delivery company call and say they are leaving it at a gas station in town for me to pick up like Speedy does. What a joke.

Really not at all satisfied with online shopping at all, and I hear its getting worse as the original post indicates.

Then we have the internet bots like the one here that makes up fake messages about the service; that really turns me off to any business.

I'm unhappy with Amazon too.
I ordered seat covers for my old 2005 buick after cleaning the cloth seats.
The new amazon seat covers didn't fit well.
I put in a return request. Within 2 hours I got a total refund without returning the seat covers that didn't fit.
I'm upset not knowing what to do with the new seat covers that didn't fit well and Amazon doesn't want them back. LOL

I'm a Amazon and in general online ordering fan. We typically get 2 - 4 packages a day. Lots of those are from Amazon. I find it so much easier to hop on a web site, click the button, and have the merchandise at the door in a couple of days rather than spend $20 in gas and 1/2 a day fetching something. Problems over the years have been minimal.

The hassel with sending you a return postage label and what to do with the seat cover once it comes back is probably more expensive than they are worth. They would have to pay someone by the hour to open packages and determine if everything is there and re-package it in a manor in which it could be sold to someone else.

I belong to AA because of Amazon, I'm Addicted to
Amazon.

I like to keep my Credit Card exposure to a
minimum.

I buy Amazon Gift cards from Krogers when they
have 4x the fuel rewards points. 1000 points = a
buck off a gallon.
In April I had 3000 points. This month I have
2000 points. Yesterday I called an old college
buddy. He met me at Krogers with his truck and
gas cans. I gave him 1000 pts I had to use or
lose by the end of the month.

Every month I use 70 gallons of gas from Krogers.

Stephen you must not deal with
Amazon returns that often.
They email you a QR code which you can open on my smartphone.
I go to the UPS store, which is on my way to town. Show UPS the QR code
UPS will pack it and ship it. No hassle. No fuss. No labels. Within 2 hours my money is refunded to my Amazon account..

No one is right here, because it is your choice not to use Amazon. It's my choice to do what works for me..

I use STP gas treatment. I recently bought 12 bottles. I contacted Amazon and asked them to replace one bottle that leaked in shipping. Sorry you can return the damaged bottle and we can't replace just one bottle, instead we will send you a full refund.
Is that OK?

Well I'm upset, I can not get one bottle replaced!
I have to trash the leaking bottle and wet cardboard box.
But I get to keep the other 11 bottles that didn't leak.

We don't have a UPS store locally, just a pick up point. Amazon e-mails a shipping label, tape it on the box and take to shipping point. They are putting small businesses out of business and I'm unhappy about that....BUT too many trips to town to discover they don't have what I need.

Amazon's menu is not easy to negotiate, but once you get to a person.... the problem is solved.

Not always, I could tell you of horror stories working with their customer service, constant transfer to different so called support personal, long delays in their response and no resolution or follow up to the issue at hand.

I will say on occasion I have had goo results and a fair resolution of the problem/

LMAO, did u just accuse Caryc of being an Amazon bot? he sure went to quite an effort, by posting THOUSANDS of posts about tractors, to cover that up in advance.

i prefer to buy locally when i can, but i will buy from amazon if it's the choice between that or not getting what i wanted to buy. does that make me a bot too? :-D

It might be interesting to read what the problem was that is so difficult for amazon to resolve to your satisfaction.
And have the need of written proof of conversation preserved forever.

Well we shop Amazon prime and are very happy with delivery times and return service. No hassle no problems No shipping fee. Thanks for telling us that there can be problems, we will be on the lookout for such things, but until then happy shopping. gobble

I had Amazon prime for a couple years - I finally dropped it because it wasn't worth it. I have found better deals on Ebay with more responsive sellers. The biggest issue I had was conducting searches on Amazon just ticked me off. Three - four items I am looking for then a whole bunch of crap that had nothing to do with what I am searching for mixed in with a few of my targeted items. Until they fix their search feature to allow people to look for what they want - instead mixing in the crap Amazon is pushing to sell - I will keep ignoring them.

I have used Amazon extensively (prime) for seven plus years, a couple orders a week at times and have had perhaps three issues over those years. Yes it's a pain getting to actual customer service but you rarely ever need to.

I live in the middle of nowhere and they routinely manage next day delivery. Two day sometimes is three due to our terrible USPS here even though Amazon drops to a container in their parking lot and they only have to do the last mile (or ten in my case).

Well crafted search strings are essential to minimize the junk results. They have a long way to go to get to McMaster quality searches. Even more importantly sometimes they do not have what you need so you need to order from somewhere else. For some tractor stuff I can get it at the local Co-op which is a 30 min round trip.

Amazon is far from perfect but so is almost everyone else except McMaster which is the gold standard.

Most large retailers allow third parties to sell through their websites and use their logistics for a fee. If you don't want to use Amazon to buy from a third party you can go directly to the third party's website and buy the item there.

Myself I am pretty happy with Amazon. When I have had problems purchasing from a third party seller through Amazon, it was the third party seller that was the problem. Purchasing directly from the third party did not improve their customer service.
