BD2F lights

Does anyone know where I can get 24v lights (or just the reflectors and bulbs) for a Mitsubishi dozer. Does anyone know if it is possible to just use 12v lights by using a stepdown from 24v to 12v? Thanks.

try rine equipment i have the same model dozer and have had great luck getting parts from these guys. best regards. terry in texas..

Thanks for the reply. I tried e-mailing Rhine but never did get any response from them. I also tried KTBaugh since he is here in Texas and he was very quick to reply. I might take a ride up to his shop in Hughes Springs since it isn't too far from where I am in Central Texas.
BTW...do the lights on your dozer work? I think I am going to rewire mine since it appears that someone in the past has bypassed the ignition switch and nothing else electrical works anyway.

i'm assuming you have dual 12 volt batteries...its possible to pull 12 volts off one of the batteries and run easier to find accessories...if its negative ground tie into the battery thats wired to frame...positive post to lite switch or fuse box...no reducer needed.

Sounds easy but the down side is that if you pull out of the center of the batteries, the alternator sees voltage below the regulator setting and charges the batteries back up. This is fine for the battery that has the center tap load as you have drawn down its charge. The battery without the load on it has not been drawn down and in fact, is fully charged. Continuing to charge a fully charged battery will boil the water and shorten the life. The energy you are putting into the fully charged battery has no where to go except go out as heat. You will not understand why you keep changing batteries all the time.

The only load I am going to be pulling off the battery will be the lights (which may get used once a year). Are you saying that it is better to stick with the 24v system and lights? If I can find the bulbs and reflectors I will do that.....but if I can't find the replacement parts then I will have to try something else. Thanks.

Take the bulb or sealed beam, whatever it is and go to a heavy truck parts store or NAPA and match it up.
If this is some oddball thing I'd fire them away and get a more generic light and mount them to it instead.

Those BD2 lights are famous for not working...rust gets in & bulbs break over time.
The bulbs are a special type & expensive.
Last year I put some auto driving lights on a BS3F & interchanged the H4 (12V)bulbs for H1 (24V).Lights cost $30,bulbs about $5 each.

Thanks for the tip. Do you recall the brand name or where you purchased them? Are they holding up well? Where did you find the H1 bulbs?

I got them here in Australia,at an auto store.
You need to ensure that the lights take H style 12Vbulbs,which can be replaced by the 24V ones.
The bulbs were on the shelf next to the lights.
I sell Mitsubishi parts in Australia.
