Indeed. It was hilariousRemember the James Bond episode where they went off-road in one?
If you were partial to red maybe it was your version of an IH 1066 with "TURBO" lettering. LoLI don't know why, but for some reason when I was a kid in the 1980s, I wanted a Renault Fuego turbo. I look at them now and can't imagine what I saw in them back then! I was probably in about 7th grade when they showed up in the USA and they were different so maybe that's why.
I should check with my older brother. I recall his name was Buford Mallow. The only male teacher we had in my grade school years. I think two of the women taught for 2 years in a row. That would stand out. Sounds like an interesting person, your teacher. Hope she knew how to work on the car herself. The DS model had an adjustable ride height, that’s probably what it was. Childhood friends ended up with one on their farm after dad bought it at a police auction for about five bucks. They drove it around, I remember their telling me a spark plug cost them around $35.
I guess I assumed your teacher was a woman, seemed more common back then. Still interesting that he had a Citroën. Did it look anything like this?I should check with my older brother. If you locate a 2CV to buy, try to get the 602 cc motor. It’ll get you down the road a little faster or at least without struggling too much.I

Thanks for the tip. I have some experience with low HP vehicls 25 to 36 hp. The secret is light weight. I couldn't believe it when new VW front drive beetle came out. Gained a little weight have you? Right about double the weight for new and improved. If you locate a 2CV to buy, try to get the 602 cc motor. It’ll get you down the road a little faster or at least without struggling too much.
Sheetmetal on the 2CV is almost paper thin. I could carry both front fenders and a bumper under one arm and have the other free for a bag of groceries. The suspension is its strong suit—it was built to negotiate just about any kind of terrain. The local expert I talk to tells me they were designed to last about seven years. Thanks for the tip.
