Broken lower link

My neighbor was bush hogging and more than likely put a tremendous side load on the three point and broke the pin holding the lower link on. It is the pin under the axle housing. He was not aware it had broken. Then he lifted the bush hog and the lower link jammed a hole in the axle housing on the right side. I did not get the model number of the tractor. It is around 45 HP and is about 18 years old and its 4 wheel drive.
I wonder if the hole can be welded. Maybe weld a plate over the hole? It looks like cast iron but it is a casting for sure. Also the pin that broke looks like one piece. I tried to punch it out but it is solid and does not appear to have threads. The mark in the middle is where I hit it with a punch. It looks like a casting as well. Anyone familiar with this?
He drug his old bush hog around the field with half the drive line missing, the lower link lynch pins missing and was dragging it with the top link.
He got a new bush hog and ended up doing this damage.
My neighbor has some situational awareness issues by the way. Age related.

Thanks. Yes that is the right one. The threaded end with the nut broke off .The pin wont move out it is really stuck almost like its not supposed to move. I guess it needs to be hit harder.
Do you think the hole in the axle can be welded up?

The drawing I gave you a link to shows a nut on both ends of the stud. It appears the picture you posted is of the side the draft link ball slides over and the nut that holds the draft link on broke off. By the catalog there is another nut on the other end of the stud, which is on the opposite side of the housing ear, which you don't show in your picture. If that nut (locked from turning with a spring pin) is there, that nut needs to come off and drive the stud towards the draft link side for removal. I expected it has a taper from the looks of the drawing and driving it the wrong way (from the draft link side) could break that housing ear.

He hasn't got much to lose by trying to weld up the axle. May want to weld the pieces back in then put a plate over them fitted tightly to the top and bottom flanges.
