Bush Hog mower question

Rebuilt the gearbox on a Bush Hog SQ 600 mower.
When I put the stump jumper back on the splined shaft, should I use never seize on it?
It came off pretty easy with a big puller and it looked like it just had red paint on the shaft.
Thanks, Richard in NW SC

i had to replace the stump jumper on my SQ840 a couple of years ago. I didn't use any thread lock on it but I did re-tighten the castle nut a few times after using an hour or two. The dealer I bought the part from recommended doing this due to the tapered spline shaft.

Mark, I am talking about the tapered shaft when using never seize.
In years past, I have had a terrible time pulling stump jumpers off.

Richard, I use the copper never seize when I replace stump jumpers. Makes them easier to take off next time.

Thanks.
I have a tube of something I bought back in the spring.
Gotta take a look at it after a while.
