I bought a 2394 last year that seemed to be in very good condition for 9000 hours. The transmission had been completely rebuilt and the engine uses no oil. It has been overhauled once but I'm not sure when. I had my mechanic look it over and asked him to turn the pump up to 200hp which he said would be fine for the 2394 since it has the same engine as a 2594 which is rated at 180. I am looking for a second opinion if anyone thinks this is too high hp for this tractor. It pulls strong put when pulling hard the radiator (eng temp) bar gets just below the red line on a hot day. Could it be time for a radiator replacement or is the hp making it extra hot.

My 2294 was heating on me too. I found that someone changed the alternator and used the wrong one. The alternator was loose and the belt that runs it and the fan was not turning the fan fast enough. Case offered 2 different style alternators that have different mounting brackets on the 2294 not sure it the 2394 is the same, but it"s worth looking into

What HP is it makeing now? Most developed far more than Rated HP. If you do adjust the fuel screw, don't lug it for prolonged periods, and don't add a lot of extra balasting, so the tires can't slip. Pull tillage implements that you can pull at 5 plus mph at less than full throttle.
If you do this the 23 should serve you well.

The 2394 will easily do 200hp. Yes it is the same 504 but a different injector pump than the 2594. It should be fine at 200hp, keep in mind the 23 will have a couple less plates in the power shift and the Pto compared to the 25. It shouldn't run that warm. Make sure the hyd cooler and AC condenser are clean also. With a new radiator these tractors will run just into the green being worked hard. I have an aftermarket radiator source I have been real happy with. Don't buy a Northern radiator, the last 3 I tried the fit was terrible.

The tractor is pulling 200hp now and I don't seem to be lugging it staying above the rated 2100 rpms. I thought perhaps after 9000 hours the original radiator may be getting clogged internally. I added beet juice to the tires for weight which did help some of the slippage. I also put on new Firestone 20.3 x 38 tires, a new larger turbo and rebuilt the fuel injector pump. It looks and runs good, it just gets warmer than I would like.
