Case 310B Utility Tractor Power Steering Rebuild

Just started with a rebuild of the power steering cylinder on my 1959 Case 310B tractor w/ front-end loader. The attached picture is what is on the tractor. The issue I'm running into is I can't seem to get
the cylinder cap off on the rod side. Maybe it doesn't come off? Looks like there is a seam between the cylinder wall and cap but I have been wrong before. I'm hoping to tear it all down so I can replace the
rod itself (has a slight curve to it). I don't see any provisions in the cap where any kind of tooling would help in removal. Tried the chisel method to no avail and yes I was cringing too. What am I
missing? If the cap can't be removed then how does one replace seals? Is it even worth rebuilding? I'm new to this forum and to tractors so please be gentle but I would appreciate anyone's input or guidance.
Thanks.

Here's from an old post, he advertises in both Case collector magazines and has received high praise from members. Mine leaks a bit but still works well so I haven't taken my off. I plan on just sending it to him. Give him a call. Larry

I started rebuilding steering cylinders for 300,400,500 series last fall and have had very good luck with them.I had new inner cylinders, pistons, and rods built, and use teflon rings on the pistons.Have new rod seals,o-rings, etc.You may reply to this post or contact me at 580-603-0063 in Oklahoma.

You have to cut the barrel to remove the ram & rod and reweld it when done. Best left to a hydraulic shop.

This guy overhauls them, people here seem to be happy with his work.

Well I appreciate everyone's input, looks like its getting shipped out tomorrow to Bob in Oklahoma. Thanks.

Update. How long should someone wait for a cylinder rebuild? Sent mine off at the end of August and I'm still waiting. Maybe my expectations aren't realistic but I assumed to have it back already since I was told it was about a week turnaround. Anyone else have experience like this? I'm not trying to bash anyone with this just worried that I won't have the tractor ready for winter. Thanks.

I have a similar experience with Pioneer hyd. I sent my cylinder in July and I am still waiting for it. When I call I get the same answer.

What kind of explanation do you get when you've called? I've gotten three different stories each time and the sense that they have no ETA and no idea what part is mine. Weird because a lot forums recommend this place so I will like to think its a reliable shop.

I've been told I'm next line (over a month ago).........then it's at the machine shop almost done(over a month ago)..........then he was waiting for parts (month ago)........then he thinks in a week or two mine will be next (next week). And I haven't forgot that I was told a week's turnaround back in August. I would be real interested to see if yours get any traction soon. Keep me posted. Thanks.

Patience Grasshopper! CM. They Know there stuff!

Time to play where is Bob Hunter, He does not answer the listed phone lately. It has been about a week since I talked to him.

Well I guess I will play the game too. I have called a multiple times and no answer. This is becoming upsetting, without the steering parts my once useable tractor (especially during winter time) becomes yard decor.

Called Pioneer Hyd and talked to Bob on 1/26 and he said he had been in and out of the hospital for 3 weeks and was going to try to get caught up up. There has been no answer to phone calls for a while and I just happen to call and he answered.
