case model D starter

wiil a starter out of case model S fit in place on a model D both have set screw i have a broken nose cone and windings and brushes are bad on D starter
 
My 39 has the MAB4105 also, IIRC the very early DCs used a different number tooth count on the ring gear and I would have to research for a different drive than the newer series. I was sure but did not post when this thread was fresh till i checked, but I was certain we used a DC starter and it worked fine on an LA, online research verified what I thought, the S,D,LA tractors had the same part number drive in their respective starters. The newer rubber cushion drives work well to replace the old spring type, the spring drives are good till the compression gets a bit higher then we break an occasional spring, but stock tractors broke springs also
