This M Farmall is for sale for $4500 in the photo ads (not mine). It looks kind of neat with the backhoe. Never seen anything like that on a M.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sometimes function is a higher priority that looks. I bet it's a real bear to steer with any weight in the front bucket though!

i dont think they ruined it, the original tractor is still under there, all you have to do is unbolt the accesories. that is a right handy set up there. backhoe is a handy piece of equipment to have on a farm. sure beats the heck out of replacing tiles with a shovel!!! them old hoe's were pretty much self contained. hydraulic pump was driven off the pto on the tractor. you back the tractor up to the hoe, bolt er up and away you go. that way you didnt need a dedicated tractor on a hoe.

Am I wrong or are the back wheels on wrong? Shouldn't the wheels dish towards the outside rather than the inside?

I picked up an M recently with it's wheels the same as this. It looks like they've been that way for many many years as I'm having a devil of a time trying to get the wheel clamp bolts loose.

The rear wheels can go either way, depending on what is needed for a particular row spacing or whatever. The Ms and the Hs were delivered to the original dealer with the rear wheels installed as you see them in the picture. The tractors were easier to fit on the truck or flatbed rail car that way.

Can't leave them all pristine and parade them. They were made to work. Besides,they spared an Oliver and used a dime a dozen IH.

The backhoe is a scout brand back hoe. I have one on an 8N. There a good backhoe and will dig a deep hole compared to backhoe of today. I can dig almost 18 foot down with the one I have

I saw that one too, there has been quite a few interesting old style hoes on some of the tractors in the ads, and very tempting as I sure could make use of one. The large bucket with the narrow front would intimidate me, but with the hoe on the back, maybe it's balanced better.

This particular one would probably not interest me, being a narrow front, but even as is, it would be very handy thing to have at a farm, you can do so many little things with one and it sure beats having to rent something for a small job or doing it by hand. I'm sure they might be slow and you really have to use care with them to not hammer the tractor and the mounts, as well as being careful where you use it, but for the small jobs, probably something many would appreciate having at their disposal.
