Cub carburetor problem

I was cleaning the carb for a cub I just picked up and have an issue with the idle tube. I used my handheld torch to heat up the carb body where the tube goes through and got it too hot. Idle tube came out pretty easy but after cleaning it it just slides all the way in too far. I also see there are no threads on the tube and figured they must have broken off in the body. Problem I'm seeing is that the tube doesn't seem to have a break where the threads would have been, the tube slides below the rim of the carb now and just doesn't seem like it should have been in there. The tube is 1 21/32" in length approximately. I feel like I may have damaged the bottom of the carburetor beyond repair but I want to know what some of the experts think. Grampa love if your still on here I'm hoping you might have some great insight for me

The tube screws into the top half of the carb. It usually breaks off flush with the threads still in the top. Tiny drill bit and tap. We have repaired several of them. The tube is available from multiple suppliers ( maybe this site?) Or , Amazon, Kipa brand carb. We have used a dozen of them, perfect right out of the box.

Thank you, I have had great luck with many carbs from Amazon when it comes to small engines, but I've had a few problems with some I've gotten for Ford tractors and stopped buying them when something breaks with the carb body. I placed the order for that kipa last night so it's on the way.

Suggest this ,it would good to get you the ih or zenith carburetor into the hands of a restoration buff rather than scrapping it. Just my thought .
most likely it's going to get out back together and sit on the shelf next to the rest of the carbs I have left over from past machines.

Here’s a good video to help you with your cub carburetor , following suggestions you will have it running in a jiffy.
It will start about 3 minutes
This is the worst video about a cub carburetor ever made 🤬. She has absolutely no idea what she is talking about when it comes to the idle tube. It screws in to the top. No idea what she thinks she is doing drilling all the way through the bottom 🤬...my goodness, what ever you do, DO NOT do this.

Amazon carbs for anything else, Ford, Farmall, A,B,C.....are hit or miss. The Cub carbs are almost always good,no matter what brand, but the kipa is flawless.

I saw her say that and couldn't figure out why she drilled out the bottom of it and then wanted to JB weld the hole back up. Terrible advice. While I. Waiting on the carb um going through the rest of the fuel system and I'm sure I'll have to at least file the points, but are there any cub specific issues, that I should check/look for before I try and bring this one back from the dead?

Just prime the oil pump when you change your oil filter. That's really the only cub specific issue. Holler if you need anything. Always happy to chat about Cubs 😁

Wow.... really. The whole thing about drilling the bottom of the carb and tapping in threads is completely and totally wrong. It doesn't matter if she has a few good tips, that portion of the video ruins her "credibility" in my opinion 😞. But who are you gonna trust, the couple from Alabama who has literally worked on 100+ Cubs carbs,or the girl who made a video to sell parts? Beats me maybe she is smarter than me.🧐🫢

What is the tap drill you use , size of tap ?
