Deere 1650

I have a 1985 JD 1650 4WD that Ive had for 25 years and use primarily for logging. It has 3 ranges and 3 forward and 1 reverse gears. My manual says that you can obtain reverse in all three ranges but I dont have it in the 3rd range (high). I have never had it and just assumed it wasnt available in 3 but my manual says otherwise. Anyone have this issue or know how extensive repairing it might be?
