Farmall H jumping out of gear

D. Slater, used red MN, Janicholson, and others, I did not type correctly, I do not have the top off of the transmission yet. After reading all of this and coming to the realization that this gear swapping in the SH is probably not gonna happen, unless of course I can find a 4th/5th slider from or for a Super H. we will see, I will post back once I get the top off and can inspect the gear and the shift rail, I already know the shifter is sloppy so maybe it could be the simplest thing. I will post back after I have eyes on the issue. thanks to each of you
Tom, there are 4-5 slider gears available for Supers. Here is a link to one example. 4-5 example gear There is a place called Worthington Ag that shows one cheaper but their site is down for maintenance at the moment.
Edit: Their site is back, now the question of whether or not YT allows their link. Worthington Ag gear

All you faithful posters, I'm back, with the top off of the super H transmission. 4/5 gear is sloppy on the shaft and it appears the gears on the inside are about gone. Corners on most of the gears show some abuse/wear. Since this is my granddaughters tractor I do not have a book to guide me along. Is it possible to get the 4/5 gear out without separating the transmission from the rest of the tractor. I have looked over the link from below not sure if enough room is had once the connection is disassembled. As always, thanks for your willingness to share knowledge. gobble

Yes. the clutch shaft is removed from the coupling (Take images) the clutch pressure plate is loosened (bolts still in place but hanging). The shaft is removed. The front transmission main bearing can be removed. The intermediate bearing between the input shaft and output shaft must be controlled the bearing is a roller type, and can come apart dropping rollers into the sump. Bad very bad. a string or wire tie can be used to keep it whole. (It is between the front gear set you are removing and the 4/5 slider!!). a towel draped under there can be a blessing! Then the 4/5 gear slides off. Jim
