So have an old 2 ton floor jack, unknown
brand. It's been oozing for a while.
Finally pulled the pump part out and
replaced the o ring. Now it doesn't ooze.
However, for the life of me I can't get it
to lift well. It sounds like a bunch of
air.

So I figured it can't be that tough, cycle
it a bunch and add fluid as it goes down.
However, I can hear the air coming back to
the reservoir when I release the arm. It
burps, spits and gurgles. I've added a
little oil as the level went down hoping
to exchange the air for oil. But when I
bring it back down to the low point, the
reservoir over flows. Is it toast or am I
doing something wrong? I tried different
YouTube videos on burping them, but no
luck.

OPen the valve and lift the jack,I read somewhere that is how you burp the jack. Don t get in a hurry, just slowly purge the air.

I have one that does that. When all else fails, set it completely upside down so it is fully extended/'raised' and let it sit like that for at least 24 hours. (Suspended between two tables or some such) (with valve open of course) Then flip it back over and try it. What I think is happening is the trapped air needs to find its way back to the reservoir.

to get the air out of mine with it lowered and the valve open i pumped it for about 5 minutes and that did it
