Fuel shut off for Working 800

I"ve read about the shut off valve, seen the shut off valve, changed the shut off valve. Know that the screw in, or lever type will fail, eventually. Read about changing o-rings and drilling out pins and routing lines every place. Believe the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Is there a way to have a fitting were the shut off valve goes under the tank to the carb with a shut off at the carb? Second question, just because I don"t know, are the two mounting wholes, were the shut off valve goes, dead ended or do I have to plug them if they are not used? Thanks fella"s!

I don't see why you couldn't put a fitting into the old valve and run a line to a shutoff at the carb fuel bowl/seperator. My 951 is like that... works fine... Only issue is if you ever get a leak between the tank and the carb.. your gas will drain...

The bolt holes that mount the shut-off valve are blind. That said, if you do not use them you will need to braze, solder, etc, some sort of connection to the tank as the fuel hole is not threaded.

Easiest fix is to buy a new valve from an internet supplier for around $25.00.

soudguy, read you got a new project. Congrats!
I read on an older thread that you posted on were you put a short sed. bowl with a cut off to the sed. bowl on the carb. Tried finding it again but couldn't. I've already insalled the old shut off valve with a new O-ring. Greased up the inside of it with some pump oil and bolted it down. I found a short sed. bowl a TSC but waited until I heard any alternative ways of running the fuel line. And by the way, the new tank does come with a threaded opening. Thanks for the reply.
Sound advice: don't work on the tractor during the "Big Dance."

This is what I did. Some of the components are NOT fuel rated sow use at you own risk. If I would do it again I would like to replace the sediment bowl and try a fuel petcock for a motor cycle in its place.
