I have put a Gleaner E Engine in my WD Allis and it runs great. I put a 170 governor spring on it and its turning around 2400 RPM (very snappy) which I am happy with. However when I put the tractor on the PTO Dyno I am getting about 48 - 49 horsepower out of it. Big improvement over the 201 that I took out of it, but I had heard number like 60 horse out of these Gleaner Engines. Just wondering if thats a little low or not. I am still running the Gleaner governor assembly with the tractor timing cover. Nothing else done to the motor just set the valves and started it up.

E-3 motor was rated around 1750+ (I beleive) rpm, WD gearing will have motor @ 1400 rpm for 540 PTO, If you can get slide ruler for the dyno you're using, you'll get a more accurite number

Gleaner E/EIII 226 engine was rated at 62.7 ENGINE HP directly off the crank, not that the PTO, big difference in where you measure it. Governed speed under load was 1650 like the tractors and high idle was 1950-2000 rpms. Right out of the manual. Mike

I thought that might be the case with the combine engines being rated at the flywheel. Is there a general perecentage horsepower loss for PTO horsepower for a WD (I am sure each tractor is slightly different). Thanks for all the replys.
