Hydraulic control lever

The hydraulics in my 8n are stuck in the up position. My question is in regards to the lever that controls the piston in the valve. I took the inspection cover and watched the arm that is tied into the up/down lever. When I move the control lever I couldn't tell whether the arm in the case is suppose to be going up and down or side to side or front to back. The arm is just moving a fraction of an inch. How much movement should I expect out of the arm in the case, and does it move front to back or up and down.

I did reach down into the oil and found where the arm ties into the valve, and moved it around a bit. It didn't release the pressure so I suspect I have some gunk that needs to be cleaned out as well. But the lack of movement in the arm concerns me.

Also the up and down control lever almost moves to down by itself, although the hydraulics will go up even if lever is down. I have no control, they automatically go up when tractor is fired.

Also they don't go down even when tractor sits for a day or so, they are held up tight. I had to crack the pressure line to the loader to ge tthe front bucket down.

I''m going to drop the pump and clean it out, any other ideas.

Thanks,
Jason

The arm move forward (lift) and aft (lower). Picture shows full lift commanded. I never measured it, but estimate that the bottom end of arm might move about an inch.

This would be LOWER position.

Before you drop the pump, give adjusting the quadrant a try - loosen the 4 bolts and move it back a ways & see if that doesn't help..... control arm should be moving more than a "fraction" of an inch to operate the pump control valves.

What loader and what pressure line? You appear to have something plumbed into the tractor's internal system. Details on how that has been done please. Pictures are always good....

the rod should move front to back.. a fraction of an inch ain't enough.

manually exercise it. if that don't help.. exhaust valve may be plugged..

pics of the loader setup would be nice too.

The line for the loader runs off the bottom of the hydraulic pump. Do all 8n"s have this pressure port? To run the 3 point the loader needs to be locked down, to run the loader the 3 point needs to be chained down. Have no idea about the line pressure.

es, they all have the port & your description of operation is standard.
