Hydraulic cylinder

My tractor is stored under a shed but the loader lift cylinders on it are out in the open. Need a bigger shed, who doesnt? The lift cylinders dont have a visible leak. But I had what seemed to be a lot of water in the fluid last time I changed it. Am I right in thinking that rain water isnt able to get into the cylinders if fluid isnt leaking out? These are double acting cylinders.

The moisture likely came from the breathing of the reservoir as it heated and cooled on a daily basis. the moist air is sucked in as the system cools, then condenses onto and into the oil because it is heavier than oil it sinks and stays there until mixed by use. Jim
