Ignition switch for A/B

So I have this BA I built years ago from an A and a B. Yesterday I got it out after having to mess with the points etc. Had to hot wire it or it might run or it might not. No bit deal to me to hot wire but that my not work for others in the future

As old well knows, YT sells parts, no need to advertise for Steiner. He will likely keep going with the jumper wire as he likely has one tucked away somewhere or in another parts unit.

At my age and what little I use this tractor I'll probably stick with the hot wire I have it set up so I can reach it from where one sits on the tractor so easy to disconnect it. Yes I'd like to replace the switch so others can use it when I can no long use it

Oh dear.......if the original switch is no good ( most ain't any good after 75+- years) we replace it with this switch. Run one wire to the starter stud and one wire to the coil. Simple,fast, and cheap

I've tried that on a couple other tractors and for some reason it always seems the switch goes bad with in a year or 2. Tried buying switches from 2 or 3 plasces and they either stop working or as one of 2 did they fall apart

Makes no matter the suggestions or fixes, there is a multitude of reasons why each and every one won't work.

I'd repair it if I thought doing so would out last me but with the way things are made now days is is hard to do since it is likely to just stop working again in less then 2 years

Buy a switch suitable for marine applications, it will last but it won’t be cheap.

That is my point, you just posted this for the sake of conversation. I knew back in post 3 you would just keep running with the jumper wire. You know how to fix it, and you were not asking for help or suggestions.

If I could find a correct switch for it I might but if I did how long would it last?? On my Case VAC I have replaced the ignition switch at least 5 times and all 5 have gone bad within the year

Here I am , puttering along, buying "cheap Amazon" parts that just keep on working. I must be either incredibly lucky or.......i dunno . I have a couple tractors with those switches that have been in use for 3-4 years and the tractor gets used at least once a week,lots of turning on and off.
