I was running the 715 yesterday in wheat and just got done with the last of the field I turned around and stoped to put it in 2nd to go back to the trucks at the other end and all of the sudden it died. I tried to restart and it wouldnt. Then i noticed the fuel pump wouldnt come on and I looked and a fuse was blown. Put a new fuse in and still nothing. What could it be? I hardwired the pump and it runs but still cant get it to start. Could the switch in the cab have gone bad so that the fuel pump and the injector pump isnt turning on? I have the 310 german in the combine. Could I have hurt the injector pump?

Check your fuel filters to make sure they are full. If the pump quit pumping I would suspect that the engine pulled out all the fuel it could get before quitting. Turn the key, crack the filters and lines and make sure you have full flow of fuel to the injection pump. It may take a bit of cranking to get her going again once it has fuel. You may even have to crack the injection lines once it is running to get rid of all the air.

Does the injection pump have to have power to run because I just checked and it does not have any power going to it? Can I hot wire it too?

I believe the combine german diesel has electric fuel stop, the tractors all had cable fuel shut-off, that might be your problem. I would certainly check it out if nothing else helps.

Check the solenoid under the cab. Follow the thin wire from the key switch down and you will find a solenoid with 2 heavy wires coming in from each side and the thin wire coming in the middle. 715s have 2 solenoids, 1 back in the engine compartment and 1 right under the cab. I bet your not getting power to the injection pump. If the solenoid is bad you can run a jumper wire from one side of the solenoid to the other to get back in the barn, if you do this cut the jumper wire (rubber handle nippers) to shut the combine off. For saftey sake I would not run with a jumper wire accross the solenoid because you won't be able to shut the combine down with the key.

I have a 715 that quit pulling itself. The hydro sounds like it's working but won't pull. What should I check first?
