WHEN I START MY H I HAVE TO HAVE MY THROTLE AT FULL AND FULL CHOKE. IT STILL SPUTTER A LITTLE TILL IT RUNS .

SHOULD I OPEN OR CLOSE MY LOAD OR IDLE NEEDLES?

Gerry -- Your post leaves out a lot of helpful data like whether or not the tractor operates normal once started, does it pull a normal load okay -- this kind of thing.

I reckon I would have you begin with a visit to my website (below) and once there, scan across to ARTICLES 1 (at the level of the tractor's front wheels). From the drop-downs, select CARBURETORS and carefully read the 9-page article. Now -- on page 9 you will find a no-wrench test that can be performed on your carb to ensure both the IDLE side and LOAD side are indeed open (not blocked). Perhaps the testing result will lead you to a "next step".

In your case it is safe to say that insufficient air-fuel mix is getting into the engine during start. Possible causes are a float setting too low, or blockage in the carb's IDLE pathway. Further speculation without more data is purely guessing.

My H starts first spin of the flywheel with the throttle closed and full choke. Once shes been running for 1/2 minute The choke can be opened and she settles into a slow tickover(throttle still closed). Read Mr Browning's article. From memory, idle and load needles should be roughly 1 and 1/4 turns out. From what you say I would hazard a guess that the idle circuit is blocked. Let us know how you get on.
