I replaced the dual clutch on my MF135 last month. I set the clutch pedal at 3/8 as you did and it disengaged the clutch to the engine just fine. When you had it at 3/8 did it disengage the clutch to the engine? You didn't say if it did. If it did then I would set it at that value again. As far as the PTO clutch mine was set at 0.080 initially and it would not disengage. I gradually worked down to 0.040 and then it disengaged. Years ago there was a retired MF mechanic that went by the handle Big Dean. He sold a repair manual for these tractors. I bought one of those and for PTO clutch adjustment for a new clutch he always set them at 0.060 initially and a number of times he had to go to 0.040 as I did to get it to release. Anyway, you need to get the main clutch adjustment to the engine releasing first then adjust the PTO clutch. Good Luck.

FLYWHEEL AIR RING ?? # 28.

Did your Tractor leave the factor with the FLYWHEEL AIR RING ?? # 28.

I had a MF 35 3 cylinder 3 cylinder Perkins diesel, NO MULTI-POWER...FLYWHEEL AIR RING ?? # 28 had been left out by a Shade Tree Mechanic at some time..

Clutch assembly operated perfectly after the FLYWHEEL AIR RING ?? # 28 was installed.

(quoted from post at 11:59:09 07/21/22) I changed gap to .045 this morning Same thing grinding when engaging pto

Wrong finger height can affect the release stroke/point. Did you check, and set, the pressure plate finger height (if that step is called for)? Bob posted info about two different "pot" depths. Does the depth match the clutch you are using?

If the three release fingers travel TOO FAR FORWARD they WILL make contact with the PTO disc hub rivets and drive the PTO shaft too. Set the three PTO jack bolts to .080 inch and leave them. Now move to the pedal free play and increase/decrease as needed until PTO drive will just stop when pedal is down against a 1 inch board on the foot step. The .080 bolt gap means the MAIN disc pressure plate will move .080 inch before pushing on the PTO pressure plate to release it. The original spec was .090 years ago, but that did not always work well. You MIGHT also have a CRACKED PTO pressure plate, and that will keep the PTO from ever working right. I've seen that happen on a 200 series MF, no matter what gap setting I tried it never released right and would drag due to the warped/cracked plate.
