Have a Massey 65 that I did some work on last winter, this was all repaired/replaced: carb kit, spark plugs, wires, points, condenser, cap & rotor. Before this work was done, the tractor didn't run at all. After the work was done,it ran fine, then it sat a couple of months & now it will run for 5-10 minutes, then dies. Before it dies, there is a sputter almost like a miss. The plugs look ok, not vapor locking. The strange thing is that it will start right up after it quits & runs fine for another 5-10 minutes. Any ideas??????????? thanx

Check the gas cap. I had a tractor with the exact same symptoms and was surprised to find that the "vented" gas cap wasn"t letting enough air in the thank. Take off the cap when it starts to sputter and see if it makes a difference. Other than that take off the fuel line and run out a quart or two make sure it is flowing freely.

Hi,
Fuel cap is a possibility. How old is the gas?
It is possible for it to go stale. Run some into a clear container and check for any water. Can you drain the carb?

Thanx for the replies,I removed gas cap& stuffed a rag in the filler spout-still sputtered. The gas is only 2-3 months old, should be ok eh? I will try blowing out fuel line & see what that does. Thanx again
