I've been posting questions and answers on here for awhile but I have never posted any backround. So here goes. I'll be 60 [on the 6th], Tractor owner, 8n-600 fords, 445 moline. My sons and grandkids pull the 600 and moline on a reagular basis. Once in awhile we pull the 8-n if they offer a light class. Farm raised but dad worked in town as I did. We live on a couple of acres in a rural area 7 miles west of Ft. Wayne Ind., just north of US hy 30. I was forced to retire from Zollner Pistons in 1995 after 28 yrs. due to congestive heart problem. 2 time sudden cardiac arrest surviver thanks to implanted defribulator. I have a been tractor pulling as a hobby since 1962 and have 3 tractor pulling scales we rent out for pulling. My son and I also announce for pulls. Last year we serviced around 80 pulls in 9 states. I've probably been to some pulls that other contributers have been to. [possibly Lanse at the fairgrounds in downtown Dayton Oh. example?] This site has been a great source of info especially when the shifter lever came out of the sherman trans in the 600. Now you know a little more about John B., from N.E.Ind.

I am called Larry for name. Live down in Missouri near Lake of Ozarks area. About 2 miles from one of the lake areas. I like to fish and some boating. Jug lines are my real fishing most the time.
I am retired Law Enforcement Officer now.
Married and have a good wife and she cooks to!
11 grand kids...Christmas is not cheap now. Was raised for several years on a farm and was known as one of the hay haulers from fields. The hard way.. by hand! At times I an couple other friends would be called out of school for picking up hay from fields. Since lots of rain was coming in and they wanted it up.
Have always had some kind of interest in tractors and now have one.

Well thaght I might as well add to the list.
My name is Anthony,My e-mail adress explains most of, (alot of people call me spud)and i'm 16. I live in a small town in south western Minnesota but I spent alot of time on my grandparents farm when i was yunger and still do. Gess thats how I got the tractor bug. I have two old ford tractors that i inhareted when my granpa died 5 years ago, One is a 1959 (I think) 981 diesel that I am in the procsess of restoring and a 1962 4000 4cl diesel that I use for general stuff like pushing snow,grading Bushhoging etc.... The 4000 is a good runing tractor exept for general things like it needs an overhaul. (Next project)
There are alot of people that are suprised when I tell them that I like the older tractors, anestly I think some of the tractors made in the last few years are just ugly.
Any way thats all, I have thaght i'd add to the list.

A little of my background. I is 70 years old, only ailments are arthritis and lazyness. Raised on a farm and have farmed as a side to working in a factory/shop. Still make hay. Have always from the time I was a kid worked on engines, tractors, cars, and trucks. I am a plastic molder as in having my own plastic factory since 1976. Before that I was a mold and plastic part designer as well as a Mold builder along with being a plant manager. I have a mold building shop in the molding factory. We are one of the few wheelchair wheel and tire manufactures still in the US. I have more tractors than my wife knows other than there is 20 or so in the yard she wants gone. City girl dontchyaknow. I pulled in antique tractor pulls for several years. My last tractor pull was in 2004 pictured with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
John, Kevin, and John jr B would know me as Lamar.
Well they might not want to admit knowing me.

Was that at LaOtto ind? Where does the time go? In the National Antique Tractor Pullers div. 3-4 and 5 fenders are required. Have you ever given any thought to making plastice fenders? I think there would be a good market for them. I would certainly be interested.[Possible dealer?] We have to remove our fenders in the 3000# class to make wt. Kinda a hassel. How's Corky doing. Haven't seen him for awhile. My e-mail is open. Drop me a line. That goes for anyone interested in tractor pulling.

Here goes, my name is Mathias, live about 45 min East of Rochester, NY. I enjoy working on farm equipment, but realized in high school that I didn't have the patience to do that for a living. So instead, I have a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and work as the Quality Manager for a machine shop. We make Teflon seals for customers like Caterpillar and Allison Transmission.

I grew up on a small farm. We sold apples, peaches, blueberries, rasberries, strawberries, etc at local farm markets. This past summer my wife and I started our own farm. We sell fresh cut and dried flower arrangements, also at the farmers markets.

I collect and restore vintage chainsaws, Scorpion snowmobiles, and vintage tractors. Last year I particiapted to my first tractor pull and am hooked. This site has been pretty helpful in figuring out my tractor related questions.

Well I'm Walt I try to keep a hold of my self most of the time but am known for going off a bit and telling someone off now and then.
I was raised on a 160 acre ranch in N.California we had milk cows hogs and horses. Also Plums Peaches and some other odd fruits on the place. So I learned all about fruit and cows but not much on beans and wheat. We borrowed a Cat D-2 from the neighbor and other than that used the 35 IHC 1 1/2 ton truck.
I spent most of my life as Mechanic and Machinist have learned a lot along the way about heavy equipment some bigger than most farmers ever see.
Worked on everything from little lawn mowers to 25 ton cranes. Boats amphibious vehicles and other odd and ends.
Have some training in machinist and automotive trade but none to resent. So don't ask me about them new fangled cars. But I can pretty much draw a picture of how the old ones work.
I own a Case La that I pull now and then then and have a Kubota L285 and access to several other tractors. Lots of balers and mowers and such as we do a lot haying in the spring.
Well that pretty much it. OH! won't be 70 till July so I'm still a young man.

Just got off the phone with glennster, so I know who he is now. Good to know who folks are.

I am 53, live on the farm that my grandfather bought 102 years ago. I am at Pilot Grove MO. Home city to IHC collectors, Chapter 1. Was one of the charter memebers but had to drop out for a while due to kidney transplant.

I have a BS in Agriculture from the University of Missouri. I am currently a crop ins. claims supervisor for Am. Farm Bureau ins. I have stayed involved in agriculture and just recently started restoring a Farmall Super H. Also have a D-2 Cat, an M, an F-14 and a 706D. I like to hunt, fish, reload ammunition, hunt with a crossbow and am a beginner R/C airplane pilot.

I really enjoy this board!!!

Oh, I forgot. Laotto was my last pull. the picture was on the Aurburn Riley Childrens Hospital pull. I didn't get a big trophy at Laotto but did bring home a stack of plaques. 5 I think. I think all I could muster was 2nd and 3rd's on that one. I had to patch the intake on the 77 to keep it running. Had full choke and still could not get enough fuel.
See what happens when you get another ten years on you. They say the hair is the first to go but that has been gone for 45 years.

My turn: I was raised on a diversified crop & livestock farm on the ND-MT border 2 miles SW of the confluence of the Yellowstone River where it joins the Missouri River. Didn't know that Lewis & Clark had been through there when going to rural school. We raised small grains, alfalfa, corn, & sugar beets under flood irrigation. Just out of the Yellowstone Valley we raised small grains & had cattle & sheep on pasture on MT school land. Pigs & chickens helped keep me & 6 younger sisters out of trouble. My grandmother had homesteaded on a quarter next to the school land.
After high school I went to college & worked on the farm summers. Got married to a MN farm girl in '63 when running a TD-18 IH crawler land leveling for the irrigating farmers, finished college with a Industrial Ed degree, started teaching in Fergus Falls, retired in '99 having taught Vocational Auto, Vocational Small Engines, welding, machine shop, woodwork, drafting, & even some leatherwork! Most of my time was in the engine shop. Oh yeah, I taught Driver Ed & Motorcycle Safety after hours & summers.
It is very enjoyable to meet former students who are established in the community and working in an trade area that I helped them get a start in.
My 2 sons, 3 grandsons, & oldest granddaughter are into tractor restoration with 1 JD & 9 letter series Farmalls restored or in process. SMTA & H Farmalls that were my father-in-laws are in the shop now; SMTA has new sleves & pistons, reground crank, redone head, etc. and is going back together. The H is coming apart. I knew I should have built the shop larger!! Nice to work in the winter with hot water floor heat!
I have been a part of the Lake Region Pioneer threshing show in Dalton, MN for 20+ years and chairman of the IH featured shows in 1995 & 2005.
I'll be 66 in April & have plenty of artritis to share with anyone!

Hi all, I been reading input from you guys since last summer and I enjoy reading (I find it best if I keep my mouth shut well most the time anyway) I grew up on about a small farm in the middle of Ky, My father went blind when I was five years old most was lost but the land. I got a little older and with a 601 ford and some Tobacco patchs the family was farming again. Later a few cows ( I missed many days of school in the sixth grade to bale hay) I went on to be a diesel mechanic and tryed to help Dad. Dads gone 10 years now, a hreat attack slowed me down in 2002 then 4-4-07 I was nearly killed in a car wreck. Farming still runs deep in my blood, At 47 years old and my body beat all to hell I still want to raise a few cows this summer. I got everything I need but a bale wagon, sometimes I want to give up but I'm not dead yet. Thanks Guys you give courage to go on, and thats a little of my background... I am from SE Michigan, I ama 29+ year GM employee. I am a Tool & Diemaker by trade, but I have spent the last 29 years working on gages, primarily Zeiss CMM's. I changed my handle to Spook after going on midnight shift last year. I live in Howell, Michigan, have a little 10 acre spot. My wife has her own business, and we have 3 pygmy goats, a boxer dog, and some cats. I have 2 tractors, a Farmall H, and a 300 Utility. I play with tractors when I can, and I am looking forward to retirement from GM, hopefully I can indulge my hobbies some more. I am hoping to build my own shop in a year or so, a real "man cave" LOL!!!

I grew up on a farm about 30 mi north of San Diego Calif. The town is Encinitas, Dad's farm was about 5 mi from town. We didn't have too many close neighbors, just myself, and my two brothers. Dad raised lima beans, black eye beans, and oat hay. Dad stopped fariming about the time I went in the Navy in 64, got out in 68. That was a very interesting time. Got married in 71. Raised two girls who were very active in 4H. They Showed beef, and dairy. We made several trips to Lewis town Montana to get the beef steers. One year my daughter had the grand champion steer. Dad passed away in 92. Along with his farming he had a discing business, which I strted again in the early 90's after he died. I retired from the Unisys computor co. about a year ago after 36 years. I was a machinery repairman, and did proto type machining towards the end. Iworked mostly nights, so had time for my tractor work. I still do discing, and mowing. I have all dad's old tractors plus a few more. I have, all colors I am not a color person, just as long as it works for me. Now my motorcycles are a different story. I am partial to the old indian motorcycles. My favoriet will be my 1937 indian chief. At this time I am working on a 1936 four cylinder indian, although my tractors take first priority, as they make money for me. At 65 I am still doing ok. That's my story, and I am sticking to it. Born in Detroit. 64 years old. Parents from S.C. Have been called displaced hillbilly. Dad came up to work for $5 day for Ford and never went back. First jo b credit union, decided didn't like confinement. Went to RETS radio-tv school in 1962. Navy recruiter 1966-68. Apprentice electrician GM 1969. Led to 32 years. Retired with bad back and sugar and more. Moved to semi-country(it ain't no more)Rockwood 25 years ago. Rode motorcycles last 35 years. 2 acres to play with. 2 farmalls now. Have had others. Love anything with gas engine. Bought lots of cars because nobody could make them run. Electrical contractor and landlord 15 years. Wish I could remem ber stuff. Things are changing too fast. Last 4 years I cut 10 acres every summer. Little plowing snow. Love this YT site. Appreciate you all and all the info. 11 year old grandson might be catching onto this tractor stuff.
