oliver 1655 injector pump

This is a little off point, but after a JD dealer rebuilt my 1655 the engine was always slow to fire. A friend has suggested that the pump may not be timed correctly. How can I fix it?

I would bet that they ground the valves, which put them out of spec. common issue on Oliver deisels, and is talked about on here quite often. Someone like B A Starr or J. Schweibert could probably post the specs for you.

i had issues starting my 1655. I reset the valves to specs and put a bigger starter on it. it starts fine now 10 months out of the year..

How about some details on how it starts? Does it smoke? If so what color? Everybody has decent suggestions, but explain it more. I also sent you an e-mail. Let me know if you did or did not receive it. J.
