hey guys got a question on the perkins engine used in the white 2-105. are they prone to rear main seal leaks? I'm getting ready to drop the engine back in after a clutch job and o/u rebuild. While cleaning up I picked up the old seal and realized it is not the same as the one I put in. The seal I put in was a regular oil seal while the old one has a micro groove seal similar to the ones on the 5.9 cummins. Dodge had a real problem with them leaking. I've got personal experience there. I picked up the new one at a local bearing supply when the dealer sent me one for another tractor. I missed the different type entirely till I now. My question is this do I disassemble everything and try to find this other type seal or will it be ok. I rather not have to pull this engine back out for an oil leak down the road. It's about as much fun as a root canal getting the fuel tank out of the way. Oh and if anyone has a secret on getting that tank back in I would appreciate it greatly. I'm getting ready to have the tank shortend by 2 inches to go back in. thanks craig
