t6 rollers

Hi all,

I have been looking around for used roller carriers or upper rollers, whatever their proper name is,and bottom rollers for our new/old T6.It looks like it could be a little spendy and still have a half wore out roller. I have been a machinist for 20 years and have my own shop at home where I fix & repair/machine & weld nights & weekends.So having more time than money, I decided to make new upper rollers for the T6 and made the first one this weekend.I turned it from 6" 1018 and it turned out well.Ill make 3 more this next week and was wondering if anyone else might be interested in new rollers? Im going to go thru the bottom rollers next and am sure Ill be doing the same with them.Any of the rollers can be turned small to allow for hard surface, or can be case hardened about.030 deep(I dont think this would last long and it is pricey).We wont use this T6 but about 200 hrs/year to clean the feedlot pens so im just going to leave them soft,I think they will last years. Any ideas on the marketability of these rollers in the mid $200 range?

I think commercially available rollers use a better alloy(boron steel) than plain carbon steel and can be had for less than $200 complete ready to bolt on. There used to be a big business rebuilding/reshelling rollers and building up idlers but prices have come down so much it's cheaper to buy new ones. Obsolete rollers/idlers are another story. Some of the bigger machines like D8's and up still have idlers rebuilt but it's not cost effective on smaller machines. Dave

last rollers of that size I bought 6-8months ago were $114 delivered to my local deere dealer.

Korean but that stuff seems to last a good amount of time as good as Berco in my book

Pricy ? New factory original out of good stock somewhere around $ 100.00 Don,t think you will get too many takers at @ 200.oo if they shop around.

Thanks to all for the info,just an idea I had because I did shop around and 4 yards told me that if I wanted used rollers I could get on a waiting list.The other option was to get them from Berco who will not sell small qt's unless they are on the shelf.Apparently they are not on the shelf for my machine as they will not even give me a price.I dont know any overseas vendors are or where to go to get foreign parts.I went to IH and they just gave me blank stares when I said T6, and said they dont have any books on the subject. I would appreciate anyone who could
hook me up with a better stocked junkyard as I will be needing more parts for the other machines I have in mind.
