You have aroused my curiosity.

There are hundreds who used to post here who don't anymore. A few years back, I posted a question asking who was still around and read the posts, but didn't post anymore because they were harassed by some cult members who would gang up on anybody who dared say anything that they didn't agree with. Last time I checked that post was a week and a half or so after I posted it and at that time, there were 316 replies. I run in to past members now and then and when I mention the forums, they just look disgusted and shake their heads. It happened last weekend in fact.

I found this site after I bought an Allis Chalmers AC5040 tractor several years ago. Got good advice on hydraulics, power steering, engine blowby etc.
Also, the write-up on how to split a MF35 Industrial tractor helped me, my son-in-law, son, and grandson replace the clutch in my son-in-law's tractor.

I prefer the jokes that would have been called "groaners" in years past; now "dad jokes". So, I check this thread now and then.

If I want political commentary or racy jokes I go elsewhere.

I know of dozens of folks who don't post here anymore. I still text or call them. Most were sick and tired of the cyber bullies that are allowed to run the show....... Even if they weren't the target, some decent folks didn't like the constant harassment of people ( like Old) .......the jury is still out on Norman.... maybe he is the guy that cleans it up.

The ones who should be kicked out are allowed to continue on....... decent folks leave. Hmmm . Doesn't say much for me does it?? Some of us overlook a lot of the garbage and stay.

I don't think anyone should be "kicked out". This forum is for everyone who can follow the rules, which I think are pretty clear and easy to stay in.

I do not ban members for being condescending, rude, short, unless it crosses the line into online bullying, bigotry and even then, I don't ban until it becomes a repeated problem. I may moderate to keep things civil, but I do not hand out bans lightly. My goal is to remain objective. I don't enforce bans simply because they hurt someone's feelings.

This is an argument that can't be "won". Some folks think that ignorance,hate , racism and belittling people is acceptable behavior, some folks think it's not. Depends on what your personal beliefs are. . But folks can choose to walk away and not deal with it anymore.

At first I was surprised by the amount of it on here... then I thought about the probable demographic and was no longer surprised, now I just push back on it like I do face to face out in public when I hear/see it. I also report it for @NormanSavesTractors to decide

I guess we'll have to see how you moderate, but the exodus happened under the previous moderators. If you read every post everyday, maybe you'll understand the context. I don't know, but I think Miss Kim only read something if it was reported. If you only read one comment that somebody made to another member, it might seem inoquous, but when you know the history, have been following the exchanges and know that the harassment has been relentless, then you understand that it's a problem and that somebody needs to take a break. Either you, the moderator, can give the offending member a thirty day break, or his target is going to take a permenent break.

Thanks for your feedback. I'll do my best. Like Kim, I will not be able to read every post, as my job here as moderator is only a small portion of my job at Yesterday's Tractors. But I am pretty diligent, and follow the people who get on my radar. I will need to rely on the community here to bring issues to my attention through the report function.

I'll give you a break since you've only been here for a few years, but political affiliation used to be about all that mattered. Believe it or not, there was even a political forum on here. Of course you know it didn't stay there. It spilled over on to all of the forums every day and if you didn't agree when somebody started something, that you were supposed to agree with, you painted a giant bullseye on your own back and you became the next target. As long as no politics is strictly enforced, fine and dandy, the color wars are trivial.
