tractor weights

Where to place weights on antique tractor puller,16 inch high drawbar, medium lenght chain. This class is new to me. Simple stock oliver super 88,15x38 tires.

hard to say, with my 700 case and a 20 inch drawbar with 18.4x38 and front weights 11 FT from center of rear axle its generally 1/3 of movable on front 2/3 on rear bar, or as close as you can split it, I also have a belly bar that in my heavier classes I will split the rear 2/3 and put 1/4 of that on the belly bar!

What Cummins.......... posted. The track surface can make a huge difference as well. Watch what is happening to the pullers in the classes prior to yours. I have seen sometimes on a tight sticky track that you need all your movable weight and more up front, and on a soft track none at all.

I would start heavy on the front, until you get more experience, then you can adjust from there. I say heavy on the front because it is safer and less likely to scare the driver, as you learn you can make adjustments.

With a cast tub frame, the weight forward position may be less desirable But the best advice (if you are a new puller) is to watch Youtubes and others with Ollivers of that vintage. Jim
