Well that was a bust!! ~~ Tweety 8N.

Today the wife couldn't get what she desired to get done and she told me to go work on whatever.
I looked up at Tweety and figured I would see if I could make it run long enough to burn off some of the Seafoam I poured in the engine that saturated the manifold and into the exh sysytem. Looked in the temp gas tank and it evaporated. Verified by pulling the dip stick and an odor check. Poured in more gas, set the throttle and fired it up, it ran a few seconds and died. (*&(!!
Looking at it, I opened the gas cap, pulled the guts out of it, stated tweety again and it ran with no great problems. I let it run about 30 minutes and it finally burnt off 99.9 of the smoke routine.
That was all it took? A goofy gas cap? So a stuck valve, bad starter solenoid, with a stuck starter drive for $500 with a back blade that sold for $250. Somebody up there likes me. Oh yeah, and a battery.
It currently has an ignition problem with a hesitation. You can slowly speed it up, but usually a fast accel causes it to stall. Drop the throttle to about 45% and it will catch and continue to run.
I suspect Worn dist shaft bushings and will pop the cap for a wobble check soon.
Meanwhile the non turning steering column needs replacing along with a rear axle trumpet complete with axle seals etc.
A clean up after that and then a complete paint job.
Might even throw in a valve adjust on this industrial engine.
Wife's in bed, gotta go or else I get in trouble for waking her up when I go to bed. Yes dear....
Sell Tweety? Yes dear.... (uh maybe next year...)

Richen the mixture just slightly to get rid of the hesitation on acceleration. Turn main screw out 1/8 turn at a time.

I will give that a shot after I look at possibly replacing the points that have been "sitting for 20 years" according to the PO (I did file off some sizable corrosion) and check the dist shaft wobble.

Can't say that. Too many machines on my side of that argument.
