White 5542 won't pull gas

Hi everyone!
I have a White/Cockshutt 5542 combine that will not pump gas. I started it last week after it sat for about 3 years untouched without problems. It ran fine, moved it around the yard & shut it off a few times & restarted again without a hitch. Last couple of days I could not get it started. Checked the fuel punp & no gas coming out when I turn the engine over. I found a used pump, nothing. I put on a brand new pump & still nothing. I had put in fresh gas, new gas filter & checked all fuel lines for obstructions. I did everything I could think of that is fuel related with no luck. As long as I pour gas in the carb it will run, otherwise no. Anyone ever run in to this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Put a temporary electric pump on it, if that works, I'd suspect whatever internal engine part that makes the pump work. Being me, I'd probably make the electric pump permanent.

Ill John,
Thank you for the info. I was thinking of trying that as well. I"ll give that a try once I can get my hands on an electric pump. I didn"t really want to buy a new one since I don"t use this combine every year. Anyway, thanks again!

didn't hear you say you changed the rubber fuel lines I have had these crack after getting them running after setting for a while they won't leak much gas but on the suction side they will let you pump air but not fuel just a thought

go to EBAY and get one make sure that the pressure is low like 5 to 7 PSI or you will push gas past the carb needle and you will flood the engine. i use 2 to 4 PSI pumps i get off EBAY for 22.00 and they work great
