    641 Workmaster occassionally missing/backfiring

I will have to say that it has been humid the last few days and the tractor does sit under my porch where it can be damp. Although, I did grab the cap while it was sputtering and was not shocked. Another thing is the generator light stays on even at higher revs(although weaker). When running...

    641 Workmaster occassionally missing/backfiring

Been several years since been on here because the tractor has been running great! So story is, last fall hosed it off and it started missing and backfiring. I dried out the distributor and ran fairly well but decided a good time to replace cap, condensor, and points. That went well except the...

    641 noises, coolant

You know it could be a little extra coolant. I can't remember if I added lately. Seems like I may have put some in last fall when I had a little left in the jug from another project. Anyway I did use it moderately twice this winter for snow removal. There is about an inch of coolant above...

    641 noises, coolant

Ran the tractor for about 10 minutes and put away. Noticed coolant starting to drip from overflow. I have been hearing some whining up front on occasion. My first thought was water pump. When I grab the fan there is a fractional amount of play. Or is it the thermostat. They don"t open...

    winter tire chains

I agree on the ladder type for turf. I also agree that they are not as useful on R-1's. I got new tires last year and now the chains fall in between the lugs except for about every fourth one. Not much bite. Any suggestions for modification short of buying the other style?

    641 Remote hydraulics source

Are the adapter plates specific for each brand of hydraulic remote or is it a one plate fits all situation?

    641 Remote hydraulics source

Ultradog, checked with the current ad by Vito but it's sold. I was able to find some kits from external_link in an old catalog. But then I got confused when one page started listing adapter plates, depressed, or non-depressed centers. Not sure, but it looks like my current spring seat would not...

    641 Remote hydraulics source

Come to think of it, they may have both been 800's. I have to admit that my knowledge of hydraulic setups is novice. That said, what is the difference in a single or double control valve? Is it that a double allows the operation of 2 separate pieces of equipment? Thanks for the answers!

    641 Remote hydraulics source

I went to a couple of fairs recently and saw what looks like factory remote hydraulics with rear ports on a NAA and a 800 series. Ofcourse it was attached to the pump housing beneath the seat. Mine just has a plate with some plugs. When using this type of remote, does it render the lift...

OT Ever see a "1948 TUCKER"

I saw one about 10 years ago at the Gilmore Classic Car Museum near Battle Creek, MI. An online search shows they still have it and have made it a permanent exhibit. When I saw it, it was displayed in a small shed with less appealing, newer automobiles. Gilmore Classic Cars

The new 8n from New Holland

I heard a bunch of hype about a new 8n. So I check out the New Holland 8n site but it won't load. The local dealer has no information about them either. I thought it was to be on sale by now? Anybody know anything or own one? I suppose it's on hold just like the auto industry.

    starter drive

Also, what's the best way to drive the pin through the shaft? Although the end of the drive has some play, it's not enough to allow the pin to travel through without severe beating or a press.

    starter drive

Helping a neighbor out with putting the new "clutch" style starter drive on the starter of his 9n. We could not get the shaft gear to retract to the rear of the shaft in order for the straight gear to clear the flywheel ring gear. There was a little movement to the rear but not enough to clear...

    Splitting 9n

Neighbor has a 1939 9n that had the starter bind up on the ring gear. Long story short is that it ate up about 6 teeth in a row and the ring gear needs replacing. Thing is neither of us has split a tractor but it looks straight forward. So once split, (besides ring gear), what should we check...
