    1948 8n 12v front distrib. weak spark

We just fixed a weak spark on my neighbor's 8N by replacing the plug wires with solid wires. Are your new wires solid or resistance?

    OT: IT

I don"t Think you will find any that are 100%. After years of worrying with this question, would you believe that my prime computer is using Windows 7, and the software it provides. Have had no problems so far. I think the more important aspect of this problem, is to try and not get a virus...

'52 8N Generator problem (from couple of days ago)

The other day, I was talking about my neighbor's 8N was not charging. We found that the generator would motor, but would not put out. The neighbor took it to a shop, where they put new brushes in and perhaps did other things. They put it on their machine and showed him that it was putting...

    '52 8N Generator problem

Thanks JMOR. I had tried changing the polarity, and there was no change. I guess that means there is field current. I will try removing the field current connection and look for a change in speed. If there is field current, then why do you think it is running backward?

    '52 8N Generator problem

My neighbor's 6V Neg ground system. The wiring looks real good. It was not charging. The generator was not putting out. We disconnected all wires to it, grounded the field to the generator ground terminal, and it still had no output. We disconnected the belt, grounded the field and applied...

    '52 8N Ignition

This my neighbors 8N. It is the original 6V system. It has been sitting for several months, but seemed to run OK before. Now it will not start. We saw that it had a weak spark, so we re-worked the ignition ckt. Now we have a nice blue spark. The trouble is that it will not spark every...

    Distributer Question

'51 8N side distributor. Opened up the distributor and found the rotor button in a few pieces. All the metal was gone. This could have happened when someone looked into the distributor earlier (another story). Two questions: 1. Could the metal parts get behind the floor plate and cause...

    OT,,, Old time remendy

Back around 1940-1950, my g-mother made a drink with orange juice, onions, and castor oil and other possible things. It was cooked on the stove. Bad stuff! Also, she made what was called a "Muster plaster". Don"t know what was in it, but it would burn you up! She (or my mother) would slap...

OT - Old Bolens Husky FMC Sickle Mower

I can not find any information on this mower/Tiller. I was hoping you guys would know something. It is a right neat old machine, with attachable sickle mower, tiller tines, and about a 3 HP 4 cycle Briggs. I think it would be from about 1955. The Briggs looks about that age, but still runs...

    The drain

Yes, I know the difference. Happen to have both. But I think batteries is batteries.

    The drain

I had the same trouble (12V 8N). It was the battery. It would seem to be charging, but would not hold the charge.

    '51 8N Governor rework

Got me a kit. The 8N would not idle low. I have the governor on the bench, and sure enough the balls had flat spots. Now, before I tear something up, I Thought I"d best ask a question. I"m looking at the FO4 manual, and it does not show anything holding the drive shaft to the drive gear. It...

    '49 8N QUIT

Yesterday, I posted that my 8N, after about 3 min. quit. Today, I cranked it an it started and ran fine for 1 min., then it quit. I could not get the bolt at the carb because it was somewhat rounded, and at 71 years, I didn"t feel like standing on my head to work on it. So I disconnected...
