    Help with ID and distributor

So can anyone help me ID the tractor first of all? From what I can gather the S/N is DA12381 300508. My second issue is I’ve been trying to research the distributor that came out of the tractor and can’t find anything. The rotor shaft seems to be bent and wondering if anyone can tell me if...

    Update on my 8N

So for anyone who may remember the John Deere green ford that appeared on this forum around this time last year…. I’m happy to say she’s about 80% restored. First up I did the Pertronix 12v and electric ignition conversion and cleaned the carb. Was ready to fire when I realized the flywheel ring...

    Oil selection

So I was given some brand new 10w30… only problem is it’s diesel 1030 and not your regular 1030. Anyone see any issue in using it in my 8N? I’ll never use it on any diesel engine so I figure might as well throw it in the ferd. Google doesn’t recommend but really in looking at comparison it...

    Hydraulic three point issues

You were exactly right, dropped the pump, watched Rachel gingelles video on disassembling the pump and sure enough both of my valves were very sticky and one was even on the verge of being stuck. I just finished filling it with oil after pulling my hair out for 24 hours waiting for RTV to cure...

    Inspection cover bolt pattern

Is anyone able to tell me which bolts go where for the hydraulic inspection cover on the side of tranny? I’ve had mine apart for too long and don’t know where they go now lol. I know some are longer then others so they don’t hit the pump on the inside

    Hydraulic three point issues

I have a 48 8N. Been slowly fixing it up and somewhat restoring it. Got engine running like a top thanks to 12v and electric ignition. Next up on the list was to adress the half working hydraulics. What I mean by that is when I engage the PTO the pto engages as it should, but the theee point...

    Help identifying this part

So I need the gasket behind the cover, which I’m assuming is the oil pump on my 48 8N. But didnt know for sure so figured I’d bring it to the experts lol. If anyone could confirm or correct me in saying that’s the oil pump that would be great. Also P/N’a are greatly appreciated! Thanks

Carb settings with pertronix electric ignition

Hey guys, to recap I have what you guys are telling me a 1948 8N that I paid 300 Canadian dollars for, brought it home a month ago and started disassembling and dissecting everything with her. Started off by ordering a 12volt alternator kit and a pertronix electric ignition kit. Got the pertonix...

Flywheel ring gear replacement and parts found in bell housing and the case underneath the dash

You were 100% right. Ended up taking it to the construction company I work for’s shop and using the big set of oxy/acetelyne torches there. After 5 mins of heating it fell right on. Tractors back in 1 piece and hoping to try starting it later today or tomorrow

Flywheel ring gear replacement and parts found in bell housing and the case underneath the dash

Damn lol. I’m normally the first fella to destroy an old part to get something apart knowing I’ll never reuse it but I never once thought to cut the old one, thanks lol. As for the bbq grill, I was thinking that I was gonna see how hot my moms convection oven will go to reinstall the new one...

So I have my 8N split to change the flywheel ring gear, i removed the clutch and flywheel and started beating on the ring gear, haven’t really got it to move yet, I don’t have a big set of torches just a portable mini propane torch. Anyone got any tips to remove and re install new ring gear...
